Prance and Unflappable Colour Comparisons

When I put Prance and Unflappable side by side, I thought they looked a little like my Hourglass Exhibition duo. I was also interest to compare Prance to the lighter shade in the NARS Melusine duos.

Although the lighter colour from the Exhibition duo looks similar to Prance in the pan, I think you will see it is quite a bit darker and more mauve when swatched. Unflappable appears more brown when compared to the dark plum of the Exhibition duo.

I think that in the picture above Prance looks quite similar to the lighter shade in the NARS Melusine duo. In the interest of checking that I really didn't have a dupe, I went back and did some heavier swatches and compared the pans.

I think the differences are much more obvious in these pictures. Prance almost looks like a light peachy pink when compared to the silvery grey of the lighter Melusine eyeshadow. They are both beautiful eyeshadows and sadly I don't think my photos do them justice. The Melusine eyeshadow almost has a duochrome appearance which is stunning. If I wasn't so afraid of double shimmer, I would be tempted to wear them together!

Delicate Hummingbird Colour Comparison

This post was inspired by Klara's comment on London MakeUp Girl's recent Rouge Bunny Rouge post. Klara was surprised by how dark Delicate Hummingbird appeared in the pan and I thought a comparison post might be useful. Especially as most of us only have online swatches and descriptions to go on when it comes to purchasing Rouge Bunny Rouge.

Delicate Hummingbird

Delicate Hummingbird is described as 'a cool, dusky sugar-frosted plum, iridescent with pink shimmer'. I think the description is quite accurate but probably quite difficult to visualise. I do hesitiate to call it a plum without the extra descriptors as I tend to think of plum as quite warm and Delicate Hummingbird definitely leans cool.

It's a beautiful colour and one I often wear on it's own. I used to own a MAC colour which was incredibly similar called Flirty Number (I think it was a limited edition shade). I pulled out a few of the purples I own in order to show where it sits in terms of the depth of colour and undertones. First of all I have pictured the eyeshadow pans.

I think of all of the colours I compared it too, MAC Trax and the lighter colour from the Hourglass Exhibition duo are the most similar. Trax is the same depth of colour but it's more warm and red toned. I was surprised how similar the Exhibition eyeshadow is as they look very different in the pan. It's probably a little more pink than Delicate Hummingbired but they are both cool, dusky purple shades. I still don't know whether to call it plum or dark lilac. Neither seems quite right.

I've also included some photos of Delicate Hummingbird applied for completeness. The last photo is blurred but I think it shows the very beautiful iridescent shimmer. It's delicate but very pretty.

New Hourglass and Rouge Bunny Rouge Eyeshadows

After my post about dream shopping after a bad day, I decided to treat myself to another Zuneta order. I liked the Hourglass and Rouge Bunny Rouge items I got last time and wanted to investigate more from the lines.

Here's a picture of the order plus packaging. I know other bloggers have mentioned the lovely box the items come in and it isn't hard to see why it's popular. It's like a beautiful gift to myself!



I went for the Hourglass eyeshadow duo in Exhibition that I had been admiring in Visionary Beauty's posts. I also got Rouge Bunny Rouge eyeshadow in Solstice Halcyon (for readers outside the UK it is worth noting that Zuneta ships Worldwide). Both are pictured below.



Hourglass eyeshadow duo in Exhibition

I was delighted when I saw the Exhibition duo, it is a really pretty pairing. The lighter shade is a light, slightly frosty purple shade and has good colour pigmentation. You would imagine it to be quite sheer but it's isn't at all. Quite a few pale purples and lilacs that I have need a lot of packing on to be visible on the lid so this is a pleasant change. The darker shade is a deep plum shade. I applied this to my crease with a MAC 226 and found it easy to blend. Shame about the 226 being such a scratchy beast but that's a gripe for another occasion!


Rouge Bunny Rouge eyeshadow in Solstice Halcyon

I had read that this was a mauve toned taupe. Looking at the picture here it's hard to see that as it looks like a light golden brown. I hope you'll see from the swatches below that the description is very accurate though. I can't wait to use this on my eyes, I'm sure it's going to be a great colour for me.

I think this photo gives a truer representation of Solstice Halcyon. It really is a pretty colour and has a definite mauve tone which isn't obvious in the pan form.


Here a few pictures of me wearing both colours from the Hourglass Exhibition duo. As you can see I'm wearing the lighter colour all over the lid and the deep plum in the crease. I used Caviar gel eyeliner (Bobbi Brown) to line the eyes. Apologies for the weedy lashes. I'm not blessed in the lashes department and the Rimmel Sexy curves mascara that I'm using up does me no favours!
