Korres Watermelon Light Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30

I bought the Korres Watermelon Light Tinted Moisturiser from www.zuneta.com a few weeks ago. I've waited until now to review it as I wanted to give it fair trial. I purchased it in the lightest shade Light Sand. As you will see below this is possibly a touch too light for me at the moment as I have a bit of a tan. It's workable though as I can put a bit of colour back with bronzer and I'm sure the colour match will be better as soon as the sun disappears!

From left to right you can see my face with nothing on; with just the tinted moisturiser; with tinted moisturiser and undereye concealer. Hopefully you can see that the tinted moisturiser evens my skin tone, getting rid of redness but it's light enough that you can still see my freckles. Similarly you can still see blemishes so you will need concealer which I think is pretty much a given for any TM. I think you can also see from the final photo that my forehead is a little 'glowy' so I should probably use a little loose powder to set this but I'm terrible at remember to do this!

So, what do I think to this? Well, I won't fib. I definitely have mixed feelings about this product. On the positive side, I think it provides a nice level of coverage. It includes an SPF of 30 which is fantastic and it feels comfortable to wear considering the high SPF protection it offers. On the downside, it is very tricky to apply. I had been warned that you had to blend quickly as it sets but honestly you have to work at lightening speed. I find it best to apply immediately after moisturising. I was told that using a primer would help. I also find it preferable to apply it in stages. You certainly can't dot this all over then blend. I made the mistake of putting too much on my face once whilst in a rush and got quite a shock. I couldn't blend it in fast enough so I ended up very patchy. Once it sets it won't budge and the the coverage it gave me was more like a full coverage foundation. For a tinted moisturiser this is actually very pigmented.

Despite the negatives, once you get the hang of applying it, it is a good base and it lasts well. I shall use this up and will hopefully remember to do a final thought post once it's finished. I should also add that it hasn't caused any break outs. I've included a list of the ingredients for those of you with sensitivities.

Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturiser

I received a sample of Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturiser sample from visionarybeauty. It was extremely thoughtful of her as she knew I was interested to try Laura Mercier but was concerned I may not suit my skin. I posted a picture of me wearing this in a recent FOTD post which you can see here.


The sample I've used is in the colour light beige. I find this a touch too dark for my skin, however as I'm quite tanned at the moment it doesn't look as obvious. I can't really give a full review on this but as I have managed three applications from the sample, I thought it might be interesting to share my thoughts.

I have enjoyed using this quite a lot. I really wanted to find something that would even my skin tone but give quite light coverage. I was surprised when I first applied it that it has quite a heavy texture, it's also not that slippy so you have to put reasonable effort into working it in. Having said that a little does go a long way which is good news as this retails for £40. It does give a nice, even, light coverage and I can still see my freckles coming through. It lasts well, even in the heat and feels comfortable on my skin. But, and this is quite a big but, I have to warn you it is very glittery! I'm not sure how obvious the glitter is on my face but it definitely does impart a glow. In the warm weather the glow can feel a little bit too much. This is a close up so you can hopefully see the sparkles. They appear on the photo as little silvery specks.


Other plus points are that it's reasonably transfer resistant and does withstand the heat. I have discovered that the sparkle does move though as I noticed that I'd covered Abigail's head in a fine layer of glitter!

Overall I do like this product. If you're after a light coverage base and like a bit of glow this could be the product for you. Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturiser comes in 6 shades and is available from Zuneta.

New Make Up and a FOTD

I've got a few new bits recently that I wanted to share with you. The first thing I wanted to mention is another Revlon Colorburst lipstick. I went in to Superdrug and swatched Blush and picked one up to buy. I unwrapped it the following day only to realise what I bought was Rosy Nude and not Blush at all! That is the folly of going shopping with a baby and a toddler.

Anyway, enough ramble. Rosy Nude is lovely but extremely similar to MAC Cosmo and Laura Mercier Pink Cocoa. I'll talk more about the similarity in another post. Here are a couple of pictures of Rosy Nude below. The lipstick is like the other Colorbursts in that it is relatively sheer and very glossy. I find it a very wearable shade.

I received MAC Club eyeshadow and So Ceylon MSFs a couple of days ago via a swap. Both of these are items that have been on my wishlist a long time! I have included a photo of Club in the pan and also applied on my eye (swatches are further down). Club is described on the MAC website as a muted reddish brown duochrome with opalescent shimmer. I have read lots of great reviews about this eyeshadow and it certainly wasn't a disappointment. It's a gorgeous colour, I don't find it particularly red either. I know quite a lot of people report problems with this looking muddy without a base. I was relieved to find this wasn't the case for me, especially as I don't have any appropriate cream bases. I'm sure I'm going to reach for this colour a lot.

I've been interested in trying MAC So Ceylon MSF for some time. I had seen a few of TiffanyD's tutorials where she used this as a bronzer and I thought it looked very subtle. I'm a bit on the fence about MSF's generally (I don't think you'll see any In The Groove posts from me) but I thought I'd give it a chance. Well, I'm undecided so far. It's ok but I'm not in love. I think I really need to wait until my face isn't so tanned to make a better judgment.

This was yesterday's face wearing Club, So Ceylon and Rosy Nude. I know it's very hot at the moment but the 'glow' isn't down to the heat but thanks to the Hourglass Tinted Moisturiser I was wearing. Although it's only a sample, I might talk about this in a different post. Apologies for the green brows too, I think I must have had some of the tinted moisturiser in my brows when I put the pencil, oops!
