My Tangle Teezer Woes

Some time ago I bought a Tangle Teezer. I bought it in the hope that it would be much better for my hair than my usual paddle brush, especially as I am guilty of brushing my hair when wet. It never really felt like it had de-tangled my hair properly though. The top layer would feel ok but it would still feels knotted underneath, especially at the back. I would lift up sections at the back to brush through, despite this my hair would never feel completely smooth.

I've been using it for months now and my hair has continued to feel worse and worse. It feels almost matted at the pack which isn't pleasant. I attributed this to the fact that my daughter has a terrible habit of pulling on my hair and occasionally biting it! It wasn't until I tweeted tonight about the state of my hair and being disappointed with my Tangle Teezer that I discovered that it might be the brush itself that is at fault.

It turns out other people have had problems with the Tangle Teezer including Fab Fingertips. I do wonder whether it might be due to hair type as I know so many people get on with it brilliantly. My hair is quite fine and fragile, it's also prone to breakage so I wonder if it might be better suited to stronger hair. I presumed the only solution would be to have my hair cut back into a bob (the damage starts quite high at the back) but Soraya from the Powder Rooms has recommended that I try the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer before resorting to the scissors. I will be putting an order in this evening to see if I can salvage something from the wreckage.

What are your experiences with the Tangle Teezer? Are you a fan or have you discovered that it doesn't suit your hair either?
