ELF Christmas Collection

ELF have some really lovely gift sets out for Christmas. I've just spotted the Glittery Studio Brush Collection and I'm very tempted! There are Christmas Get the Look sets, new nail varnishes as well as the great value eyeshadow sets and beauty encyclopedias.

I was sent a Natural Eyeshadow palette and the 32 piece eyeshadow to try. I was really struck by the selection of colours in the 32 piece set. Even if you're not very adventurous with colour (like me) there are a lot of great neutral colours. The darker greens and blue would be a nice way to tip your toe in to some colour too.

LE Natural Eyeshadow Palette

I used the Natural palette today and have been very pleased with the result. I tried to find the palette online but I'm not sure if it has sold out already*. I wouldn't be at all surprised as this is similar to one of the MAC eyeshadow sets but obviously at fraction of the cost. The darker colours have good pigmentation and the formulation is very soft in a similar way to Sleek eyeshadows. The colours I have labelled as #1 and #2 are very sparkly and not quite as smooth to apply.

*Update: the palettes are temporarily out of stock after the anniversary event but once the orders have dispatched the website will be updated with current availability.

On my eyes I applied shadow #4 all over the lid. It's very similar to my skin colour and provided a nice base. I applied #3 on the outer corner and in to the crease. I applied #6 on the outermost corner and in to the crease to add more definition. I applied #5 on the inner corner and added a little of #1 as a brow highlight. I lined my lid and lower waterline with MAC Teddy Eye Kohl and finished off with Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara.

The Christmas sets are available from www.eyelipsface.co.uk. The 32 piece Eyeshadow Palette costs £9.00 and the Natural Palette cost £3.50. As the Natural Palette is temporarily out of stock, I've been told the Beauty Encyclopedia in Everyday Eyes which costs £6.00 is a good alternative.

Disclosure: The items were sent to me without charge.

Les Tentations de Chanel Collection

"Let us succumb to the temptation before it disappears" Epicurus

I have been looking forward to Chanel's Christmas collection. For me, the must have of the collection is the Ombre d'Eau in Splash. It's a beautiful bronzey taupe and having previously seen the finish of these liquid eye colours, I know it will be very special. The collection came out last Friday but I haven't had opportunity to have a look in person yet.

I love the image for the collection but I freely admit I'm not bold enough to rock a bronze eye and fuschia lip together. Individually though I think you could make some great looks. The Fuschia Tweed blusher looks really interesting as does Pulsion, the vibrant nail varnish. I like the colours in the eye quad but I fear these could be too warm on me.

Here's a complete list of the collection with prices:

LES 4 OMBRES “TENTATIONS CUIVRÉE”  £35.00
Beige Lumineux, Rose Frais, Brun Cuivré and Rouge Noir Cuivré.

ROUGE COCO  £21.50

Magnolia, a soft and simple feminine pink.

LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES (Glossimer for lips)  £19.00
Pleasing, a voluptuous bronze.
Charming, a seemingly innocent pale pink.
Pink Pulsion, the sophisticated fantasy of fuschia.

NARS Mélusine Duo Eyeshadow

The NARS Holiday collection came out at the beginning of the week and I was sent the Mélusine eyeshadow duo to try. I must admit that this really appealed to me when I saw pictures of the collection. It reminded me a bit of my Hourglass duo which I wear a lot.

The dark purple has quite a lot of red to it, unfortunatley I can never quite get my camera to capture these shades. For colour reference though, it is quite similar to MAC Vibrant Grape. The lighter shade is more difficult to describe. It's a silvery grey but has a lilac tone to it, it's very pretty and I think it's rather unique. It has a frost finish wheres the purple is a matte shade.

I was rather concerned when I swatched the purple as it wouldn't go on smoothly. I'm happy to say that it isn't chalky when applied. I used a 217 brush to apply to the crease and I had no problems with the texture. It isn't heavily pigmented though and doesn't apply as dark as you might expect looking at the colour in the pan. I like how these look on the eye though and I think they make a very nice pairing.

I wore these eyeshadows all day and there was a little creasing but considering I went out in the wind and rain, I think the colours lasted very well. It has definitely piqued my interest in the NARS duos eyeshadows. There are some really beautiful pairings. Do you have any favourite NARS eyeshadows?

Disclosure: this item was sent to me without cost for the purposes of review.

NARS Gift Sets

Two NARS gifts have been released today and I wanted to share the details as I think they look lovely. The first set is called Sweet Disposition and it includes three mini multiples. The shades are Luxor (Iridescent Pink), Malibu (Pinkish Brown) and Orgasm (Peachy Pink with Shimmer). This looks like an excellent way to try this cult favourite and I think any make up lover would be happy to find this under the tree! This set costs £32.

The Crazy Heart set is made up of five medium sized glosses. The colours are: Easy Lover (Ultra Sheer Hot Pink), Babe (Sheer Orange Red), Orgasm (Sheer Warm Pink with Golden Shimmer
), Turkish Delight (Pink Sorbet) and Misbehave (Sheer Cherry Red with Gold Shimmer). I know that Turkish Delight is a really popular shade and they seem to have picked a nice range of colour to include. This set costs £35.

The Holiday Collection is also released today. I knew I shouldn't have looked at this, Karleigh told me it would test my resolve not to spend and she wasn't wrong! Are you planning any purchases from this collection? I think both Bougainville and Downtown lipglosses look gorgeous.
