I accompanied Small Person #2 to the school Diamond Jubilee party this afternoon. I'd had a glimpse of the bunting earlier in the day and couldn't resist going with a little red, white and blue theme. Well I guess it was more red, cream and blue unless you count my white hairs! Anyway...
I wouldn't normally go out of the house with shimmery blue eyeliner and red lips but no one batted an eyelid. Some of the children had full union jacks painted on their faces, so I figured I'd have to be going some to raise eyebrows. On my fingers, I went for alternating blue and red. I'm obviously not on trend as I don't own any white nail polish.
Here are my reds and blues. The red nail polish is Lancôme Miss Coquelicot* from the Vernis in Love collection and the blue is YSL Moonlight Blue. The eyeliner is MAC Petrol Blue Pearlglide liner and the lipstick is Ellis Faas Glazed Lips in L303.
There are no proper close ups of my nails as they were done quickly before I went out and anyone with children knows that wet nails are an open invite to a series of calamitous polish smudging events. It also reminded me that I need another fast drying top coat.
Are you planning any Jubilee celebrations over the weekend?

Thanks for sharing your fun Jubilee look! I feel like I'm missing out, living in the U.S., but I plan to sport my Butter London Lillibet's Jubilee polish this weeekend! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven't seen Lillibet's Jubilee. I'll have to Google to see the colour!
DeleteThat's a fun look! Like the alternating fingernails!
ReplyDeleteThank you :D
Deleteooo love the look espeically the blue eyeliner! I've got red, white and blue nails with a crown on each ring finger and a corgi on each thumb :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Were the corgis transfers?
DeleteHave you tried China Glaze's Fast Forward topcoat? As somebody who never has time for polish to dry naturally I think it's miraculous :-)
ReplyDeleteYou will smell like a bag of sweets though, it has a very strong smell...!
Hope that helps, Jo :-)
Thanks for the recommendation Jo. I've never come across Fast Forward. I shall have to look for it next time I visit Sally's.
DeleteFab, you manage to pull it off and look lovely as always! I seem to be missing the whole Jubilee vibe, all our friends are away camping, there doesn't seem to be anything going on in our local area and the guest house is full so we are working anyway. I might have to eat strawberries and clotted cream with a glass of Bombay Sapphire as my red, white and blue in a private celebration!
ReplyDeleteStrawberries, clotted cream and Bombay Sapphire sounds like a marvellous combination. I approve ;)
Delete8D Nope...since i'm in the States. But I can admire your adorable color theme from afar! Red white and blue what redonkulous colors (hee hee)
