Clinique Chubby Sticks Intense in Mightiest Maraschino and Heftiest Hibiscus

Clinique are releasing a new intense lip colour formula in their popular Chubby Sticks format. There are eight new colours, including lots of seasonally appropriate rich berries and reds. I have already shared a lip swatch of Heftiest Hibiscus (04) which you can see here. I also have the colour Mightiest Maraschino (03), which I have to admit is my personal favourite of the two.

The Chubby Sticks Intense formula provide richly pigmented, opaque colour with a glossy finish. They still feel as comfortable and moisturising to wear as the other sheer Chubby Sticks that I have tried. Wear time is pretty good and the balm feeling lasts a long time on my lips. The colour does transfer easily and I label quite a few mugs as 'mine' whilst wearing Mightiest Maraschino!

Heftiest Hibiscus is a vibrant orange red which I suppose some would describe as coral but I think it would need a hint of pink to be a true coral. On my lips it's quite bright and summery. Mightiest Maraschino is a beautiful cherry red and I can get away with minimal makeup when I wear this as it's such a face brightening shade. I haven't had opportunity to do any comparison swatches but do let me know if you would find it useful. I have a feeling that I have some other lip colours which are similar to Mightiest Maraschino.

  1. I like the look of these far more than the original Chubby Sticks. Love my intense colour. And yet I still find it hard to warm to the idea of the pencil format.

    1. I am pretty certain you would warm to the pencil format if you gave these a try. They're not like other lip pencils in that they're a free moving, non-stiff formula. I would imagine this is because they're twist up rather than sharpen and don't need to hold such a firm shape.

It's really nice to find such moisturising AND pigmented colour. If you get chance, definitely go and have a play at a counter x

  3. Wow, you're so right--Mightiest Maraschino looks fantastic on you. Brightens your face and yet, while it provides a punch of color, you don't look as deliberately "made up" as red lipstick can often make people look, if you know what I mean. Very casual yet impactful. Nice! I haven't tried any of the chubby sticks yet (original or intense) but I'm getting more curious...thanks for the review.
