Liberty of London

Is it shameful to admit that I really want something from this collection just for the packaging? Don't get me wrong, I do think there are some lovely colours included but it's the white packaging and Liberty design that I think is just beautiful.

I confessed in a comment to a previous post that I cracked and bought some Revlon Photoready despite my spending ban. I am rubbish and in the case of Photoready I just couldn't resist the lure of a bargain. My resolve has been weakened and so now I'm trying to find excuses to justify making some purchases on Thursday (or before if there's another early online release). The best excuse I have at the moment is that one of the lipsticks I want, Ever hip, is likely to sell out really quickly. Even if the collection is still available by the time I'm finished P10P the popular items will have sold out long ago I'm sure.

What I like most of all is the packaging on the blush and beauty powders. I've yet to decide if I actually need any of the colours though! I was pondering whether prim & proper would be a good one for me. I have cubic blush and it looks kind of similar, does anyone know if it looks like a dupe in the flesh? I was also looking at Shell beauty powder. It seems to get rave reviews but do I need another hightlighter?

What are you looking forward to in this collection? Do you love it or are you happy to let it pass by? Feel free to give me a slap for even considering it when I'm supposed to be on a ban!

No pictures today as I didn't get chance. I'm really feeling glum about project 10 pan today. I think I often purchase make-up as a pick me up and I really miss it. Especially as I went into Superdrug today and spotted Revlon Photoready. I swatched it, naturally, but it's just not the same! It's silly really as it's hardly a LE item so, it'll still be available when I've finished. I guess I'm just having a bit of a Verucca Salt moment.

I think I'll be fighting temptation even more next week. We have round 2 of the chicken pox as of a couple of hours ago. So I'll be stuck in doors yet again for a few days and Liberty of London will be released a week tomorrow. Eek, how will I cope?!

Metro Chic

At last I have a bottle to call my own!

Thanks to an extremely kind person from a forum I frequent, I now have a bottle of the much coveted Metro Chic by OPI for Sephora. As my nails were bare I put it on immediately.....well as soon as the littlies let me! It is as gorgeous as I had imagined it to be. I know I'll get a lot of use out of it.

Photobucket

Huge thanks again to the person who sent it to me. It makes up for my disappointment at my husband not being able to find Sephora on his trip to San Francisco! She didn't ask for payment but asked that I make a donation to Camille's appeal.

Project 10 Pan: The Beginning

As I mentioned in my first post, after organising all my make up, I became aware that I need to start using up some of the stuff I already have before I buy any more. I’m also an avid fan of Lollipop26 so I thought it was time I embarked on my very own project 10 pan.

Rather than ‘hitting pan’, I am hoping to completely finish 10 products before I'm allowed to start buying again. I have a feeling it’s going to take me several months, as I don’t use things up that quickly. I have a few things that are heavily used though and have picked these out as contenders. Plus a few of these bits are close to finishing and I thought that would spur me on.

Project 10 pan contenders!

-Modesty lipstick, 1/3 left
-BB beige lipgloss, practically empty
-Colourstay foundation, 1/4 left
-Brulé eyeshadow, 1/2 full
-Oystergirl lipgloss, 1/2 full
-Stiletto mascara, no idea how full/empty!
-Old foundation sample tube, 1/2 full
-Painterly paintpot, 3/4 full
-Beige-ing shadestick, 3/4 full
-Touche éclat, again unsure but it has been heavily used
-Teddy eye kohl, 3/4 left
-Macroviolet eyeliner, 1/2 – 3/4 full

There are another couple of lipglosses that are in the running but I don’t tend to use them as much. I’m also aiming to make a dip in at least one of my blushes. If not I can’t justify any more blush purchases and I really want to try some of the NARS range.

Unfortunately, with the impending lockdown on purchases (plus the temptation of free postage codes for Bobbi Brown and MAC) I felt the urge to splurge more than ever! So I bought a couple of bits over the weekend but now the ban is well and truly on. Hopefully it isn’t too long before I can update with some empties. I’m just a bit sad that I’m going to miss out on the Liberty of London collection next month.

40 Questions

I haven’t been tagged but thought I’d pinch the 40 questions idea for a post. I thought it would be a good way to get started blogging.

SKINCARE
-How many times do you wash your face daily?
Twice a day. It’s just a quick freshen up with foaming face wash in the morning. In the evening I take everything off with eye make up remover and cleanser and then wipe everything off with warm muslin or flannel.

-What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Normal

-What is your current facial wash?
No. 7 Gentle foaming face wash. I also use their Radiance boosting hot cloth cleanser.

-Do you exfoliate?
Yes

-What brand do you use?
I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Using a muslin or flannel tends to act as an exfoliator too.

-What moisturizer do you use?
I’ve been using Nuxe Crème Merveillance for a week and LOVE it! It really seems to be improving the look of my fine lines. I’m also using up a sample of Olay Total effects night cream.

-Do you have freckles?
A few

-Do you use eye cream?
Occasionally. I definitely should use it more often. I have one from the Boots Time delay range but would love to try Clinique’s All about eyes as I’m heard great things about it.

-Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
No

-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No

MAKE-UP
-What foundation do you use?
I’m currently NARS Sheer glow (Mont Blanc) or Revlon Colorstay (Buff).

-How about concealer?
For undereye I use MAC Moisture cover (NW20) or Touche éclat. For blemishes and redness I use MAC Studio Finish (NC20).

-Do you know your undertone color?
I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s neutral to yellow.

-What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I like them but don’t often get opportunity to wear them.

-Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes, I’m a bit rubbish at remembering though. I don’t think I’ve ever used a mascara up either and often wonder if I’m doing something wrong!

-What brand of mascara do you use?
Maybelline Lash Stiletto. I’ve got Rimmel Sexy curves too but the Stiletto works much better for me. I have quite short lashes and most mascara wands are too big and I blobs everywhere.

-Sephora or MAC?
I think it’s a great shame we don’t have Sephora in the UK anymore. I used to go their all the time when I lived in Marseille and loved it. Lots of space and lots of choice.

I really am a fan of MAC products but find their counters very difficult to shop in. Make up shopping with a pushchair is a pain in the proverbial. I mostly stick to buying online and am hugely grateful to all those who post swatches online.

-Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
No.

-What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
I use my fingers for applying foundation. I’ve tried foundation brushes in the past but never got a good finish with them. I use brushes for everything else.

-Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes, either painterly paint pot or beig-ing shadestick. If I’m short on time I’ll just use some foundation on the eyelid and sweep some brulé eyeshadow over the top to set.

I still haven’t tried either UDPP or Too faced shadow insurance. I don’t have that many problems with creasing but I’d be interested to see if they improve the look of my eye make up.

-For the face?
I have a primer from GOSH which I use occasionally but more often I don’t bother.

-What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Flirty number or Satin Taupe. I can’t decide between the two. I’d also be lost without a flesh coloured shadow.

-Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I wear either gel or pencil. I’ve been using pencil a lot more lately as my youngest is only 7 weeks old and I have a really small window of time to get the slap on.

-How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
I don’t think I’ve ever poked myself in the eye!

-What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
Too much of a faff.

-Do you use mineral makeup?
No. I tried it for a while but found it didn’t suit my skin. I don’t really suffer with spots but ended up with huge cysts using mineral foundation.

-What is your favorite lipstick?
Modesty by MAC. I’ve just got Syrup too and I’m sure that’s going to become a new staple.

-How about lipgloss?
I have a few lipglasses and juicy tubes but I’ve still not found a favourite.

-What is your favorite blush to use?
At the moment I’m loving Tippy blush from the Hello Kitty release. I’m relatively new to wearing blush, I used to avoid it before because I thought it accentuated the natural redness in my cheeks. I don’t know whether it’s because I’m using better products or whether my technique has improved but it doesn’t seem to be an issue anymore. I have a bit of splurge recently on buying blush but I still want more. Once my project 10 pan is over I really want to invest in some NARS blushers.

-Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
No. I’m too scared of getting scammed. There are a lot of fakes out there.

-Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yes, I love to find a bargain. I often pop in to Boots or Superdrug for a little browse.

-Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
I’m really lucky to live close to Bicester Village really enjoy going to look in the Cosmetics Outlet. I’m not so sure my husband enjoys the length of time I spend in there though!

-Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I’d really love to take a make up class, I’d love to improve my techniques to become more polished.

-Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
I’m not clumsy but I am very sloooowwwwww!

-Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Orange foundation. Another pet peeve is less an application crime more of a hygiene one. I have a real thing about people going in to shops and ‘testing’ eyeliner on their waterline. Eeewwwwwww!!!

-Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I love looking at colourful make up but stick to neutrals mostly. Girl about Town lipstick or teal eyeliner are as brave as I get with colour.

-Which celebrity always has great make up?
This is probably an odd one but I love the make up on the girls in Bones. I think they always look beautiful. I also really love Leigh Lezark’s look

-If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Concealer, particularly under my eyes!

-Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, I can go out with make up and often have no choice if I run out of time. I prefer not to though (see answer below).

-Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I look pretty rough without make up on at the moment. I look so tired I could frighten small children!

-In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
MAC. I don’t think they have the best foundation formulas but for the range of colours and finishes in eyeshadows, lipsticks etc. they win hands down.

-What do you think of Makeup?
I love it. It cheers me up, makes me look better and gives my confidence a boost. What’s not to like about that?

My new beauty box and stash

I had a birthday recently and received some cash as a present. I managed to fight the temptation to blow it all on make up and decided to invest in a San Remo train case from beauty-box.com.

When it arrived I immediately set to work transferring all of my make up into it. Up till now it’s been in a selection of different make up bags, all of which were at breaking point.

It easily takes all of my make up with plenty of growing room. The only minor hiccup was the fact that the MAC palettes are too big for any of the compartments. They sit on top of the bottom dividers though without getting in the way which is better than taking the dividers out. I’m really pleased with it and love the colour.

I took a few pictures of stash too minus liners and some other miscellaneous items.

The only down side to the re-organisation is that I realised I have to stop buying more make up and get on with using some of it up. So, I’m about to embark on project 10 pan which officially started yesterday. I managed to slip in a few purchases this weekend though before the official embargo! P10P post to follow…
