My Catwoman Converse and a Personal Ramble

Thanks to some excellent encouragement following this post, I decided to ignore sensible and go with my not-so-grown-up side. I'm very pleased I did as the Catwoman Converse are a thing of beauty (hello Cadbury's purple laces) and make my feet very happy! I bought them from Schuh online where they cost £50.

I'm going to be a bit less cheery for a minute now. I know quite a few of you follow me on Twitter and are probably already aware that things are still very difficult at school for my eldest son. We've had one good day this week and although I'm crossing my fingers that today will be ok, he didn't have the best start which rarely bodes well. I'm fighting the urge to pour my heart out on here but it's not really appropriate.

Unfortunately, I'm struggling to think about anything else at the moment and my usual blogging time is being eaten up with reading and online research to try and find ways to support my son through this difficult patch. I will endeavour to keep going but I may be a little quieter than normal. Hopefully my more chirpy side will return soon. In the meantime, I'll keep flashing my new shoes.

    1. I'm thrilled with the shoes, so pleased everyone convinced me to go for catwomen rather than navy! It's awful when your child is unhappy, especially when you know you can't really do anything to make it better, being a parent is tough going sometimes! How are things going your end? xx

    2. Things are ok, though starting school was worse that I had imagined, he seems to have calmed down a bit now but it was horrible having to walk away from the school window with him looking so scared and sad :(
      xx

  5. LOVE THE SHOES! Sorry for shouting but they are cool! And as for your preoccupied mind, we all understand the family and especially a child is way more important than the blog. xoxo

    1. Thanks Olivia (no apologies necessary for shouting) and thanks for being understanding. I find it impossible to force blogging when I'm not in the mood for it and I feel wrung out from the current situation. I still feel confident that we'll get past this current crisis as we've done in the past x

  6. oh wow I love the converse! About your son, I had an awful time at school too and the best thing is having the support and understanding of your parents. It's so hard at that age because you dont realise how school isnt really 'the real world' it's a bubble but when you have no choice but to go to school it's the end of the world for you. Eventually I went to the teachers and the bullying stopped (assuming this is the issue?) but it's a very scary process having to do that too. Hope it's resolved soon x

    1. Hi EJ, thank you so much for sharing your experience. I've been really touched by the messages I've received from people telling me about their own experience and offering support. In our case, it's not bullying, my son has special needs and every new school year we face problems with settling him in. It's clear that he's really not happy at the moment and it's very hard sending him in everyday, knowing we're putting him in a stressful situation. I'm working really hard with the teachers and school to get things under control xx

    2. oh well I'm glad that bullying isnt the issue though! it takes a lot to go in when youre not happy whatever the reason, where ever youre going so again, hope its sorted soon x

    1. Thank you so much Marcia. I will take you up on your offer, my son's problems are quite specific but I'd be surprised if you hadn't come across similar in the past. I'd welcome any input :)
