Face of the Day with Burberry Rosewood Eyeshadow

I finally had opportunity to wear Burberry Rosewood eyeshadow today. I had a moment of guilt as I spoiled the pristine surface but that soon disappeared as the the joy of applying a new silky smooth taupe eyeshadow kicked in! The Burberry eyeshadows are more pigmented than you would expect from something called 'Sheer Eyeshadow' but because of the colour and finish, Rosewood does have a slightly transparent quality when applied. As I suspected, the colour is similar to Solstice Halcyon but Rosewood has more of an obvious iridescent sheen quality to its finish.

I kept everything else pretty simple but as ever, I probably look a bit more made up in real life than I do in the pictures. Here's a complete breakdown of the other items I wore today:

Face
NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in Finland
Perricone No Concealer Concealer* applied to undereye area
Shu Brow Pencil H9 Seal Brown
Dolce & Gabbana Luminous Cheek Colour in Rose

Eyes
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in Rosewood
Annabelle Smudge Paint in Sludge applied with Louise Young liner brush
No.7 Lash Adapt mascara*

Lips
Voltaic lip gloss from the Aurora LMdB Lip Kit*
I changed to Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Venetian Rose later as I fancied something a little darker

  1. Rosewood looks pretty and I especially like it in combination with Venetian Rose - it's lovely and kind of contrasts well with your eyes making them stand out more.

    1. Thanks Meeta. I have a feeling this colour is going to be my go to eyeshadow when I want to go for a bold lip. I was dying to add a bit of Umber Firefinch to the outer corner but resisted for the purpose of showing the colour applied.

As an aside, I'm LOVING the texture of the Shiseido lipstick. Have you ever tried any?

    2. I've not explored Shiseido much (only ever bought a mask from them), but there are a few things I've seen like their unusual foundation brush that look interesting. Will have a closer look now:)

Agree with Imperfectionist on the Burberry lipsticks - I love their formula, I recently purchased the new Hibiscus shade which is quite a bold pinky reddish colour, something a bit different from my usual safer neutrals.

  3. Interesting that you compare it to Solstice Halycon since I didn't feel comfy in SH and I don't feel comfy in Rosewood. Now I know why. I do love Pale Barley though.

    1. I still must do a proper swatch comparison to Rosewood. Am I right in thinking that Pale Barley is lighter and more golden than Rosewood?

    1. It is a lovely texture but I'm still being quite restrained with makeup purchases. Instead, I'm eyeing up expensive hi-tops!!! :-O xx

    1. Thank Imo, I had my hair cut a little while ago. It's due for a trim now but I'm very pleased with my shorter do :)

  6. Very nice FOTD. The subtle colours really suit you. I was wondering which Shiseido lippie you went for. Do you like the formula?

Swatched a MLBB Lancome today in boots but cannot remember the number (clearly not cut out to be a beauty blogger!). I need something neutralish, all my recent purchases have been in the bright pink/pinkish red dept. All my existing neutrals seem a bit to wintry ... Hmmm, I may have to breach my ban!

    1. The Shiseido formula is lovely but the colour wasn't quite what I was expecting.

I do love a good MLBB lipstick (my archives will back me up) and I do rate Lancome lippies. Their labelling system is pretty confusing so I'm not surprised you can't remember. Although they usually have names, they don't seem to put the names on the packaging :S

  8. I've had Rosewood and Pale Barley for months now and so far I haven't been able to bring myself to put brush to powder because I love the immaculate Burberry pattern. Thanks for reminding me Rosewood's too pretty to sit untouched.

    1. I hope you've had a play with them now? I tried to pick a spot that didn't disturb the pattern!! :D

    1. Thanks Elvira. You've reminded me that I'm now free to investigate the NARS taupe that you were tempting me with at the start of my buying ban. Hurrah!
