Dr. LeWinn's Customer Event at Debenhams, Oxford St.

For those of you planning a shopping trip into London tomorrow this may be of interest. If you pop along to the Dr. LeWinn's counter in Debenhams, Oxford Street tomorrow you will be able to get a personal skincare consult. There is an gift with purchase offer (buy two full sized products and get a free R4 gift set and necklace worth £40) and kind people on hand to serve yummy chocolate to you tired shoppers.

Although Dr. LeWinn's isn't a brand I've tried myself but I've always heard great things about the nail repair treatment Renunail. Have any of you tried Renunail? As someone with notoriously terrible nails, is it worth me investigating?

Natio Art of Makeup Collection

Natio is a beauty brand from Australia. The products below are from their Art of Make-up collection, the shades in this collection are designed to highlight and define the face. The pieces I have here are the Mineral Eyeshadow duo in Open and Enhance, Mineral Cheek Bone Enhancer in Radiant and Mineral Lip Pout in Shine.

Open and Enhance Mineral Eyeshadow Duo

Natio+Open+Enhance2

The Open and Enhance eyeshadow duo contains a frosty beige with golden shimmer and a medium brown. In the picture above the brown looks like it has shimmer but when swatched it has a satin finish. The lighter colour is the more pigmented of the pair and also has a more creamy texture. The brown is a little more 'dusty' but it is an excellent colour for adding definition as it doesn't contain too much red.

I don't think we can escape the fact that Shine looks very scary in the bullet! I apologise in advance as I haven't done any lip swatches. Shine is described as a creamy nude but it is an almost transparent iridescent pearl. As you can see from the picture below it swatches more like a highlighter and I find I can't carry it off with my pigmented lips. The formula feels nice and moisturising.

Cheek Bone Enhancer in Radiant
Natio+Radiant1

Radiant is a very pretty and quite subtle highlighter. It's a soft peachy pink with golden iridescence. I find it easy to use and really like the fact that it's almost impossible to overdo. It's a little drier in texture than other cream highlighters that I have used and I think this is why I like it so much. Radiant is definitely my favourite item of the three.

L-R: Radiant highlight, Lipstick in Shine, Chocolate brown and Golden Beige of Open and Enhance duo

This is a brand that I can't quite decide on. I did a bit of reading up and Natio is a plant based beauty range, they started out producing skincare before moving into colour products. All of the Art of Makeup products are labelled as mineral formulations with some listing ingredients such as vitamin C & E and Jojoba to nourish. Others, like the lipstick, are described as being free from parabens, dyes and preservatives. I am not sure if this explains their price point (£10-11) or whether it is simply because makeup is very expensive in Australia compared to the UK.

In my opinion Natio has the feel of a premium drugstore brand. The formulations are nice, the eyeshadows have a pleasant texture, but the packaging is very basic. The lipstick and eyeshadow duo are both priced £11 which I think is bit expensive when I compare it to brands like Revlon and GOSH which I would put in a similar bracket.

In the pictures above I have applied the eyeshadow duo in Open and Enhance and the Mineral Cheekbone enhancer in Radiant to cheekbone and brow bone. I lined with Sue Devitt Intensifier Pencil in Bangalore. The lighter colour in the eyeshadow duo is warmer than I would normally wear. I wish I had applied the eyeshadows as a smoky eye as I don't feel entirely comfortable with the golden beige being so dominant. I will try and make the brown the focus next time I use these eyeshadows.

Natio products are available from Debenhams in the UK. I spotted that Debenhams still have 10% off all beauty products online and in store. I feel the reduced price for these items puts them into a more appropriate price bracket.

Disclosure: These items were sent to me without cost for review purposes.

My Visit to Filthy Gorgeous

You may remember that I posted about Filthy Gorgeous opening in Debenhams, Oxford Street a couple of weeks ago. I paid a visit on Friday with a few other beauty bloggers and I have to tell you, it's even better than I had imagined. You may like to take a look at The 6 Inch Stilettos and London Beauty Queen's posts for more pictures.

Filthy Gorgeous is positioned at the back of the beauty hall. There's even a separate door that you can use to access it to save you walking through. Filthy Gorgeous itself is a lovely mix of treatment bays, comfy seating and products beautifully displayed for you to browse. The bays are pretty dressing tables with seats upholstered with special chosen prints, there's no sterile boring seating here. The atmosphere is really friendly and inviting, the aim was to design something that's just like getting ready at home with the girls and I think they've nailed it (pardon my terrible pun).

I mentioned the treatment menu in my previous post. You can definitely dip your toe in or go the whole hog, there are lots of quite different things to try. Something I was particularly interested in was the Airbrush hair which gives you the opportunity to try out those highlights you've always wanted without a permanent commitment (£5 per shade). Or you can get a temporary airbrush tattoo, one of the girls had one whilst we were there and it looked great. Another exciting treatment is the Minx nails, you can choose from a full manicure or pedicure or just go for an accent nail.

I was treated to a brow shape on the day, I always love having someone else tidy them up for me. The young lady that looked after me was lovely and she made sure we agreed on exactly what we were doing before she started. I was really pleased with the result. Another great touch was having the redness covered afterwards with a spot application of airbrush foundation. I was really lucky to have it done by a member of staff that also works as a make up artist for Dancing on Ice. I have to say the airbrush is a really relaxing way to have your foundation applied. It's also gentle enough to do immediately after waxing. It saves you walking around afterwards with the tell tale signs of what you've been up to!

As well as the treatments, there are a a variety of handpicked beauty products and accessories available to buy. Including gorgeous scented candles, jewellery and hair accessories as well as the very hard to find OCC lip tars (I got very excited when I saw these!). I also discovered that you can purchase the Airbase kit for less than it retails on Airbase's own website. Now I realise this isn't an everyday sort of purchase but for a makeup artist this is useful to know. For £195 you can get the Airbase Kit including Compressor, Airbrush, Foundation, Primer and Thinner/Cleaner.

Filthy Gorgeous is definitely somewhere I'll be heading back to, with their well priced selection of treatments and products you could lose yourself for a relaxing and fun couple of hours. I guarantee you'll pop along for one treatment and not want to leave!

Filthy Gorgeous at Debenhams

Filthy Gorgeous is a new beauty service that launches in Debenhams Oxford Street tomorrow. Let me just start by saying, I saw this picture and thought wow!

It's described as an "apothecary and retail emporium that will revolutionise and transform the beauty pampering experience"! There is a full menu of beauty treatments as well as new beauty finds and accessories on sale. They offer treatments such as Minx nails, nail art and eyebrow shaping. They also offer a dry shampoo and hair styling service (curl or straighten) which sounds very interesting and an ideal way to get party ready post work.

All well as the individual services you can pick from one of their three Signature Services. For example the "One Stop Rock Chick" service which takes an hour and includes a hand nail-over, brow shape, airbrush foundation and make-up, hair straighten or curl for £50 .Or if you fancy a pamper with your friends you could book a the "Girlfriends Lounge" and have an exclusive party in a private area (2-6 people). This service includes a nail-over manicure, brow shape and make-up and costs £25 per person.

I can see this is going to be a really popular venue especially as we'll soon be in to Christmas party season. This certainly beats trying to get ready in the toilets at work!
