I love my muff (oh yes, I do!)

*polite cough* Yes, you heard me right. Those that know me are already aware that 'modesty but name, modesty by nature' isn't true at all. But even I struggle a little with prospect of writing about lady bits. There will be no action shots or swatches here, I can assure you! I'm bound to invite enough weird Google traffic as it is without giving them extra encouragement!

When the I Love My Muff Maintenance Kit for arrived for review I thought it was a cute idea but wasn't really sure how I'd get on with it all in practice. Not to mention the fact that my inner biologist started panicking at the prospect of causing an imbalance in my delicate....ahem, 'lady' flora. Well, I shouldn't have worried as not only as are the products cute in a tongue in cheek way, they are really nice to use too.

The Green Maintenance Kit contains Clean wash, Pure spray, Soft lotion and ten Fresh wipes. My favourites in the kit are the wipes and the wash. I'll admit to a good chuckle at the blurb on the back of the Fresh Wipes. They are perfect for freshening up (did I just say that?) and I think they would be a perfect companion on long haul flights or on a camping trip. Just a little FYI here but I know many people recommend baby wipes for camping trips but frankly, they're not as gentle as you might expect considering their function. I was very pleased with the Clean Wash, it's actually much kinder than using regular soap or shower gel on this delicate area. It's very easy to cause an irritation by using something highly perfumed or high foaming. The clean wash has a low foaming action; it contains no SLS and instead uses plant lipids to create the lather.

I love my muff

The Pure Spray is designed to 'give you confidence'. I haven't really used this much as I'm quite content with the wash and the wipes. The spray has mild antiseptic and soothing properties so you can use this post wax or shave to calm the skin. I confess I haven't tried the Soft Lotion at all. I don't quite know exactly where I would need to moisturise in that area but I suppose your, erm, pubic styling preference may dictate your need for such a product. I think I may actually have to go into hiding now!!

I'm going to wrap this up before I embarrass myself further. I Love My Muff products are more than just a novelty, I love the humour and their gentle formulations. My only complaint is that bottles are all quite small and I think if you were buying online you might be expecting something bigger for the price (EDIT. The individual bottles are 120ml, so twice the size of those in the set). The Maintenance kits costs £38 and comes in two scent choices, the products can also be purchased individually. I Love My Muff products are available from Harvey Nichols stores or online from Mise Beauty or BeautyWorksWest.

Disclosure: PR sample. Mortification all my own, provided at no extra cost!

  1. You did a sterling job there Jane, most impressed! And frankly there's little point in a face full of Chanel and a squirt of Tom Ford if your not extending that care to the places the sun isn't shining from!

    1. Thanks Ki and I'm so sorry I was slow to publish your reply. For some reason I didn't get an email notification so it was sat waiting on my dashboard. It certainly took a while of musing how best to word it all but I'm glad I managed it in the end ;)

  3. LOVE Ihavemostlybeen's comment :D I also have this to review. I think the wipes are most useful when going for a smear or a wax - it's nice just to be able to freshen up a bit first when someone is examining your nethers.

    1. Yes, I agree about the wipes. It is the gynaecological equivalent of a squirt of breath-freshener! It's nice to have something like this in ones handbag for emergencies.

  4. Ages ago I used to work for a site where we sold a similar wipe product - gentle and right for the aforementioned flora. They didn't take off here, but sold massively in the Middle East and other hot countries where temperatures don't allow for um, freshness. People who bought them in the UK usually did so (or the feedback we had indicated) for long-haul flights.

    1. Oh, that's really interesting Jane. I can imagine the market for wipes being much greater in hotter climes. Of course, you've reminded me of a picture you posted a really long time ago of feminine products from your trip to Marrakesh. Especially the tightening liquid! :D

  5. Well I had a good laugh, but on the other hand, this can be a real problem for us girls! Sharing too much information here, but my fave product got discontinued (it was a foam formula), I switched to the liquid soap of the same range and it looks (well feels) like I'm ALLERGIC to it. So I'm on the market for other things and I'm actually very happy someone had the errh, balls (muff?) to blog about that.
    Thanks my dear.

    1. Oh eek and OWW!! Do let me know if you would like me to write out the ingredients in the wash.

    2. well I have no idea what ingredient is causing the issue so it's going to be trial and error I guess (I really hope not though)

    3. Oh no. That is not an area that is going to be fun to patch test. Fingers crossed that you have more success than error.

  6. That was a GREAT post! And very tastefully done I might add. You may have just convinced me to give some of these products a try. You see... I think most of us ladies are curious about personal grooming but very few of us actually discuss it and thus we tend not to know about many of these options. And believe me, with my increased attention to personal fitness I certainly could give my personal parts some personal attention! Nicely done!

  7. well I wasn't expecting this for a post ;) Very well written Jane, like Grace says I think the wipes would be good if going for the oh so fun smear, mind you I'd have to buy them online as I still get slightly embarrased if I have to buy a load of sanitary towels and get served by a man, what a prude I am! x

    1. It's certainly not your everyday beauty blogger subject, is it?! Us ladies get all the fun stuff; periods, childbirth, smears. It's no wonder we're all busy talking about makeup instead of the other delights :D xx

  8. I totally needed that laugh and the description on the wipes is hilarious! The wipes would be useful after long- haul flights or before a smear ( even going into hospital in labour first time round- by the second you would know it is a pointless endeavour as no freshness wipe would stand up in those circumstances!) as others have said. The spray I can't see myself using as I am not in many situations where I garner confidence from the state of my lady bits. Maybe if you are a pole dancer/ exotic dancer- ' Ok hair spray-check, deodorant-check, muff spray- check' ...:-)

    1. ROFL!!! I know exactly what you mean about the wipes being useful first time round. Though, having ended up with c-sections three times, they would have been quite handy for after. I feel the urge to write TMI but I think it's a little too late for that!!

  11. Since you were already receiving traffic from a certain escort agency, I dread to think about the traffic you will get with this post!
Nice review though, you did make it interesting (it actually is the first time I hear about the expression "lady flora").

  12. This blog was so humorous and well written. I swear the more I read on I could hear a little Bridget Jones coming through. Then I read your response about it "being the equivalent of a squirt of breath-freshener" and really had myself a laugh. All that being said I would probably purchase the items, if not for only that time of the month.
Even saying that seems a little weird. Congats' on a whole post :)

    1. Thank you for such a lovely comment, it has truly made my day! It's a strange subject to talk about but it seems to have been well received. It's been great to have a chuckle with everyone too!

  13. Hilarious! And so well written on such a touchy subject. But I must admit the 14 year-old boy in me came out as soon as I read "There will be no action shots or swatches here" right before I saw "Freshness for the muff on the move." I can't stop myself from laughing and will have to come back after a glass of wine and some ripe cheese for a proper read. *wipes eyes*
