Over the weekend, I had a day when I felt a little delicate from over-indulging. Whilst it was tempting not to bother putting any makeup on, I thought I would probably feel better if did. Even if it was just so that I didn't have to spend the day looking at my bedraggled reflection! So, these are the products I picked out to make me look human. It's not fancy or especially polished and doesn't look like I'm wearing much, but it did put some colour back in my face. I almost always choose cream based products when I feel under the weather as I think they feel more comforting and they're better at disguising dehydrated skin.
(Oh, and if I look like I'm leaning my head against the wall, I probably was!)

BECCA Creamy Concealer in Praline*
BECCA Creme Blusher in Turkish Rose

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur
The Suti facial oil felt really good under the makeup. I'm guilty of not drinking enough water at the best of times so my skin often tends towards being dehydrated but at the same time it isn't particularly dry. The Suti oil felt nourishing without making my skin feel overloaded or greasy. I'm glad I picked out the Luminous Skin as I've been wearing it a lot since the weekend. It's definitely not enough coverage to leave my skin flawless but it's great for evening out my skin tone and also a good choice when I'm in a rush as it doesn't require much blending in.

You look absolutely lovely, dear!
ReplyDeleteAges ago I saw a Lisa Eldridge vid called "the morning after" (yeah...) in which she used the Oskia Get Up And Glow serum, that was the beginning of my love affair with that product, and possibly with brightening serums in general. Always good to use a serum and good moisture on those bad days! That, and brightening peach shades.
Oh, I remember that video too! I like Oskia products from the sachets I've tried. I'm not sure I've tried that serum though. I should investigate!
DeleteLooking lovely and fresh. You've done a fine job hiding that hangover. Really like the cheeks but I just don't get on with cream blush for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI go for a tinted moisturiser because often when you think you need more coverage you actually look better with less. Hangover skin always makes heavier foundations go cakey on me. Always Bella Bamba on cheeks - for illness for self-induced illness. I'm loving Darphin Purifying balm too. If I know I will be up late or on a rare night out I put this on and don't look half as bad in the morning x
Yes, foundation over goes cakey on me on 'peaky' days. I'm liking the sound of the Darphin Purifying balm. I like anything that can fight the after effects before they happen :D x
Deletelol read that as Darphin "Putrefying" balm, guessing thats not destined to be a top seller!
DeleteHa ha!! It would be great if they called in Un-Putrefying balm :D
DeleteModesty, you look lovely, can't believe you were hungover, you look very fresh and pretty. I NEED all those products! Really like the lipstick (am having a lipstick phase at the moment).
ReplyDeleteThank Blighty! I'd happily recommend it all, the chanel lipstick usually lives in my handbag as it's a sheer balms sort. There's enough colour in this one for it to show up too.
DeleteYou look terrifyingly healthy for someone with a hangover! I do actually look freshly dug up when hungover to hell and the only "product" that I reach for without fail is a bloody big bacon sandwich! x
ReplyDeleteOoh, bacon sandwich. I think we synchronised our feeling rough over the weekend. Although I know yours was a dodgy curry ;). I have to admit that I felt much better after I put some slap on, even if it was on the most superficial level! x
Delete<3 You really do look super fresh and bright. Darn you!
ReplyDeleteThanks E-A. I was crying on the inside!
DeleteLovely! I really like all those rosy tones, they look pretty.
ReplyDeleteI tend to go for peachy or tan glowy colours to liven up my skin like RBR Firetailed Sunbird or NARS Nepal e/s, Benefit Coralista or Beauty UK Baked Peach, Hourglass Lush or RBR liplosses.
I tend not to reach for peachy tones much but I ought to give it a try sometime. I was positively drooling reading your list of skin perking products!
DeleteBest makeup look! Does the cream blush last?
ReplyDeleteThanks Minshu. The Becca cream blush lasts ok on me but I don't have many situations in which to test the staying power. Both the Hourglass Aura cheeks stains and the W3LL People sticks are probably harder wearing and I rate both.
DeleteOoh, red wine hangovers are the worst. I can feel my head pounding just thinking about it! Bright blush sounds like a good idea and I will remember that for next time. Not that I'm ever drinking again, of course ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, if I looked that good when I was hungover I would be very happy indeed! You look so flushed and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is actually really similar to the makeup I wear on a daily basis. I use my own Rose Sunscreen, which is basically my version of Get Up And Glow with antioxidants and sun protection. Really enlivens the skin. I also use mascara, a little eyeliner (Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof in Cafe), Edward Bess cream blush in Love Affair, a touch of bronzer, and something like Rouge Coco Shine in Boy on the lips. I find that filling in the brows just a little helps to liven up my face too.
That Becca blush looks amazing on you!!
Great post and you still look good. I don't know if anyone has tried the Shu Uemura Stage Performer Instant Glow but it's great for hungover skin x
