Le Métier de Beauté Aurora Kaleidoscope Lip Kit

I feel like I'm starting this post in reverse order but what the heck, this information will not wait till the end! Normally I end my Le Métier de Beauté posts by bemoaning the fact that they are no longer available in the UK & Europe. But not anymore because LE MÉTIER DE BEAUTÉ ARE COMING BACK!! A little birdie (aka Beauty Mouth) tells me they will be available from Zuneta soon. I'm not sure on dates yet but it's worth signing up for their newsletter to be in the know.

Right, on to the pretties. Le Métier de Beauté's Northern Lights collection was inspired, as you might guess, by the colours of the Aurora Borealis. The collection consists of the Northern Lights Kaleidoscope Eye Kit, the Aurora Kaleidoscope Lip Kit and three nail polishes; Aurora, Solar Flare & (my favourite) Faraday. I've never had one of the lip kits before but I was captivated by the colours when I spotted The Non-Blonde post a first look picture on Twitter.

As with all the kaleidoscopes, the colours are designed to be layered but they can also be worn alone. The colours in the kit are, from top to bottom: Illuminate - a sheer sparkling 'Barbie' pink with hints of pretty blue shimmer, Voltaic - an opaque nude mauve with subtle golden shimmer, Dynamos - a sheer juicy coral packed with shimmer and Eos - a hot pink cream.

All of these colours are very pretty on their own but they combine to make beautiful shades too. I think the palette is quite versatile as it includes everyday colours as well as a fairly dramatic shade (Eos) and mixing allows you to produce everything else in between.

The lipglosses are slightly scented. Oddly, I think the scent is more obvious when applied than it is in the pan. They texture isn't sticky but it has enough grip to last on the lips for quite a while. Even when layered they don't feel gloopy, although I have a tendency to apply too much and I have to blot the edge of my bottom lip as the gloss pools. I remember being surprised when I had my makeover in Selfridges almost 18 months ago now, that four lipglosses layered on top of each other felt surprisingly comfortable and moisturising. The Aurora kit feels just the same.

I'm looking forward to experimenting more with this palette. So far, my favourite combination has been Dynamos layered over Voltaic and I have enjoyed wearing both Voltaic and Illuminate on their own. As always, Le Métier de Beauté has helped push my makeup boundaries. In this case I'm overcoming my lipgloss and lip products from a pan issue! I figure when it's this pretty, it's worth it.

The Aurora Lip Kit costs $95 and is available from Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman (for those of you in the States, you can find your nearest store on the Le Métier de Beauté website). I've heard on the grapevine that Zuneta will be stocking it too!

Disclosure: This item was sent to me without cost for review purposes.

  1. Oh, be still my beating heart! The LMB eyeliner pen and mascara are the best I ever wore! And I just know I'll ruin myself buying Kaleidoscopes...

    1. I have a liner and mascara too but wished I'd had chance to sample more of the blushers, eyeshadows and lipsticks before they left Selfridges. I think we all need to start saving!

    1. I wasn't sure if you'd seen the news. The cat was let out of the bag on Twitter when we heard they were filming one of Zuneta videos at Le Metier. I cannot wait to see! I'm really excited that they will be getting the Spring collection. I need to get my hands on Faraday, even if it does mean breaking my no-buy! xx

    1. I'm glad you like it Stephanie. I was sent this by the PR officer for the brand. I put a disclosure at the end of posts when this is the case.

  4. Eos is so pretty and I really like that there are two non-shimmery shades included in this Kaleidoscope. And yay for LMdB coming to Zuneta, finally! I know I'll be getting the mascara, I loved the sample tube I had, and (oh, Jane, cover your eyes) some eyeshadows, at least Corinthian, although I'm now imagining that LMdB might do a special eye Kaleidoscope just for Zuneta, ah! x

    1. I think I might just have dribbled on my keyboard at the thought of a Zuneta eye kaleidoscope! How amazing would that be?! x

  5. I have no idea how you manage to resist swatching these long enough to take your pictures! They do look lovely, even to someone who isn't a fan of lip gloss.

    1. I even had to wait for good lighting too which was a feat in itself! I'm not a lipgloss lover but I make an exception for these, RBR and Hourglass glosses.

  8. Oh that's just so exciting - I've only seen Le Metier since they've been unavailable here, so all I have is a lip kaleidoscope off ebay, and the Silk Road Kaleidoscope that I actually bought on-line from Nordstrom - awesome service, but expensive! I love Zuneta anyway!

    1. I wrote to Zu some while ago putting in a plea that they stock Le Metier when I knew they were disappearing. I guess I have to count this as a granted wish! Silk Road is gorgeous, isn't it? I pull it out quite often.

  9. Lovely colours, I like the mix of the brights with the more natural shades. The only Kaleidoscope I have is a lip one and I do like the texture of these.

Great news about Zuneta, looking forward to seeing the product videos as well.

    1. Meeta, I think you would love this palette. I'm really looking forward to the videos too. I haven't forewarned my husband (or my bank) of LMdB's return yet, think I should?!

  15. LMdB on Zuneta - OMGOMGOMG *hyperventilates*
It's one of the few brands I really want to try and never had the occasion to!

  16. LMdB at Zuneta?!?!?! I'm dancing on my office chair I'm so happy! Right now, I can order from Neiman's or Nordstrom, but I'd much rather deal with Zuneta- better customer service, faster ship times and generally a few dollars less to boot!

  17. Have they released this one in the US yet? It's not on the website yet. I was all ready to go for my first LMdB purchase and couldn't find it anywhere! It's fantastic, though...by far my favorite of the lip kaleidoscopes I've seen.
