The Rouge in Love lipsticks have a really interesting texture. They have a gel like texture but also feel very creamy and comfortable to wear. Some of the colours are quite sheer, whilst others are more opaque. Of the ones I tried, Rose Boudoir and Rose Thé are the most opaque, which you can hopefully see in the swatches above. With the exception of Rose Thé, the colours are all extremely vibrant and leave a stain once the glossy colour has faded.
MISS COQUELICOT
Miss Coquelicot (146B) is a vibrant sheer orange. This colour is really fun and very summery. I can just about pull it off wearing a similarly toned blusher (like Illamasqua Rude), mascara and little else but I think it would be best suited to darker skin tones.
ROUGE IN LOVE
Rouge in Love (159B) is sheer glossy red which leans fuschia on my lips. I like this colour very much. The nice texture makes it easy to wear and it leaves an even stain as it fades.
ROSE BOUDOIR
Rose Boudoir (340B) is one of the more opaque finishes from the collection and the coverage looks similar to a YSL Rouge Volupte on my lips. It has a different feel though and doesn't dry my lips like the Rouge Volupte lipsticks. I see it as a salmon pink and this sort of colour is significantly outside of my comfort zone. On the right colouring, I'm sure it looks fabulous but this morphs me into elderly maiden Aunt!
ROSE THÉ
Now Rose Thé (200B) has been a surprise favourite for me. I don't think the lip swatch really does it justice. I'm not a big nude lipstick fan but this is dark enough not to wash me out. I like to wear this with a smoky green eye look. I wear it interchangeably with my other nude du jour, Clinique Chubby Stick in Heaping Hazelnut which I will write about shortly.
VIOLETTE COQUETTE
Violette Coquette (381B) caught my eye when I first wrote about the collection. I'm a sucker for purple lipstick but they can sometimes be a bit tricky to wear. It looks quite dark and intimidating in the tube but it's not as dark when applied. The sheer finish makes it quite wearable and you can adjust the intensity according your personal level of daring. If you like MAC's Up The Amp, I think you would enjoy this colour.
The Rouge in Love collection is available from Lancôme counters, as well as the Lancôme website. The lipsticks cost £21 each.

I enjoyed this peek into your boudoir (oooh er missus) and I really like Violette Coquette on you, lovely, even though it is scary in the tube, just goes to show, one needs to try these things! Thank you for your really helpful comments on my blog re Etat Pur, I did a rambling reply to you over there; I had a look at your past skincare posts, very good! xxx
ReplyDeleteOooh er indeed! I feel I need to go and swatch more of these in person as I suspect there are more Violette Coquettes amongst their number.
DeleteI read your reply (sorry for being a ranty nuisance) and I have it flagged up in my diary to reply. It's very sad that I have to rely on notes to myself rather than my memory! I'll come and do it now :)
I really like the look of Violette Coquette on you, I didn't have high hopes looking at it in the tube but its very pretty on you xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Replica. I wore it the other day with new bright raspberry pink coat. I felt like a colour explosion, in a good way! xx
DeleteI really like Rouge in Love on you - beautiful shade for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Grace. I really like Rouge in Love, it's a very happy colour and I almost used a smiley picture for the lip swatch! :D
DeleteThese actually all look great - and I wouldn't have bought Violette Coquette based on the tube colour so it's great to see it on lips! Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteI find it quite interesting trying colours that I haven't picked out for myself. I tend to gravitate to the same sorts of colours and a lot of that choice is based on how it looks in the tube.
DeleteI know this is random but I can't wait to find out which Lip Chic you bought :D
Violette Coquette looks great in the lip swatch, even though the colour looks terrible in the tube. I think Rouge in Love is probably my favourite of these though :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, I don't know why I missed replying to you. I'm really sorry. I agree that Violette Coquette does not look like you would expect from the bullet. It's quite a friendly colour when applied!
DeleteThese lipsticks made me re-visit Lancome. I really like the formula and the color choices.
ReplyDeleteI think it's been a very good release for Lancome.
DeleteI purchased Miss Coquelicot and honestly? I was pretty disappointed. It has about a 1 hour wear time on me, with no eating and no drinking.
ReplyDeleteOh no, that's not good. I find they don't survive on me beyond a stain when I eat and drink but I get more than an hours wear otherwise. I don't get the 6 hours they mention though.
DeleteRouge in Love looks so beautiful. It's a very appropriate name for it, it brings to mind a lot of happy things.
ReplyDeleteI agree Odyssey. Rouge in Love is a very cheery lipstick, both in colour and name.
DeleteOhhh I adore Rose Boudoir - maiden Aunt my ass! ;)
ReplyDeleteNic x
Ah well, you say that but if the camera had panned back, you'd know better!! ;P x
DeleteRose The looks like a really great neutral! Thanks for the swatches :)
ReplyDeleteI found your blog when I was googling "Miss Coquelicot" (to find swatches), and you have no idea how happy I am to have found someone else who finds the YSL Rouge Volupté drying! I seriously thought I was the only one..
