Confession is good for the soul, go ahead and unburden yourself! I promise I won’t judge.
Bless me Aunty Brown, for I have sinned! I advise the faint of heart to stop reading now because my sins are quite grievous indeed.
For many years I never wore sunscreen and suffered quite a few serious burns. I (correctly) believed that chemical sunscreens gave me acne and only this year discovered physical sunscreens like titanium dioxide.
I often go a week between shaving my legs in cold weather because I'm just plain lazy. Jeans may hide the evidence, but I still feel the shame.
I'm a shameless face picker. I simply cannot let pimples or clogged pores go unsqueezed.
My mom's best friend used to be a cosmetics buyer for a major department store. She had no daughters of her own so she often gave me free products from companies like MAC, Estee Lauder, and Lancome. I barely used them, and eventually threw them away. I'm still kicking myself for that one.
And now for my greatest sin – the bleach incident. When I was 15 I decided that I wanted to dye the ends of my hair pink, and that I would do this at home. Instead of buying hair bleach, I dipped the ends of my hair in undiluted Clorox. I managed to keep my hair from falling apart entirely, but just barely.
You did WHAT to your hair?? |
There, don’t you feel better now?
Mostly just shamed. I blame my inner Catholic.
Aunty Brown has a few more questions though; it’s true that I’m the nosy type.
When was the last time you visited the hairdresser?
Only about 3 weeks ago!
You have a choice: bad hair or bad nails?
Bad nails. I was a longtime nail biter (down to the quick!) and only recently stopped. I could totally go back to bad nails but I couldn't live with bad hair.
What is the oldest item of make up in your collection?
A Benefit Eyebright pencil ca. 2005
Which trend still makes you cringe?
Curly hair with straight fringe. I'll never understand it!

Thank you for sharing Katie. Though, Aunty Brown would like to know how long it took for your hair to recover from the Clorox. I definitely think that wipes the floor with all the Sun In incidents!
If you would like to take a turn and unburden yourself in the Friday Confessional you can email me at modestybrown@googlemail.com. It's open to everyone: if you have something to confess, I'm happy to hear it!
I adore reading these confessions, they somewhat relieve me of my own inner shame ;D
ReplyDeleteLove it. :-) x
ReplyDeleteLOL Great confessions! :) I too am guilty of being too lazy to shave my legs when it's cold! It's ok though...the extra hair keeps your legs warmer! That's what I tell myself anyway! ;)

@Jadegrrrl: I love them too, always makes me feel much better about my own naughty habits ;)
ReplyDelete@Clever Rabbit: thank you!
@Ms. Wedgie: Oh yes, it definitely traps the heat. I only know that in a theoretical, scientific sense you understand? :P
