Gracious Arasari, Solstice Halcyon |
Gracious Arasari is described as a semi-matte nude taupe with the barest whisper of pink. It certainly is a nude colour, in swatches applied to the back of my hand it is very hard to spot the colour. In the pictures below I have swatched Gracious Arasari on the underside of my arm next to Solstice Halcyon. To me it is a light, slightly golden brown and it adds the barest amount of colour. As you can see next to Solstice, it has no mauve tone. I intend to use this as a base colour and also to buff out hard lines.
I expect this to be a useful eyeshadow for me but if you're looking for colour or you're new to Rouge Bunny Rouge, something like Delicate Hummingbird or Abyssinian Catbird might be a better introduction.

Know What Lies Are For is a hard colour to describe. It was also quite hard to photograph accurately! I was expecting it to be a dark nude however I find it to be much deeper brown than a nude. In the photographs it looks a little rosey but in person I don't see the pink and it's quite cool and blue in tone. It has the same luxurious, creamy texture of my other RBR lipstick. The colour is a little out of my usual comfort zone but I think it's workable. I will leave it up to you to decide what you think when I post pictures of all the items applied!

These are nice products but not my favourites of my Rouge Bunny Rouge collection. Gracious Arasari is going to be a good useful staple though. I am a little more excited about Sketches on Water which I'm enjoying using at the moment. I will hold off reviewing until I've used it for a few weeks.
**Update** As a final note I wanted to mention that Zuneta are offering 10% off this weekend using the code XMASZU. The offer has been extended until midnight tonight (Mon 6th). Have you ordered anything already?
Gracious Arasari looks good on you, but I would say it is typically your kind of colour and you always make things look good. I am refretting not having got a lippie now. Looking forward to your tinted moisturiser review x
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of Gracious Arasari before but having swatched it at the EB event I remember it being not really visible on me. Instead I went for Tantalising Lovebird which I really like.
ReplyDeleteThanks Charlie. I see that Replica picked up some nice lipsticks. The tinted moisturiser review will be a toughie. I'm interested to see whether I like enough to re-purchase at full price.
ReplyDeleteHi Meeta, I'm always nervous of pinks but tantalising lovebird looks very nice. I seemed to have some sort of amnesia about all the RBR swatching I did at the event which is a shame. I know I spent ages looking for Catbird which I think completely put me off! It was amazing to be able to see it all in person.

You seem to get a good colour payoff with gracious arasari, sadly I just can't seem to get it to show up at all on me. Have been taking swatch photos this weekend and it's impossible. I like the idea of using it to buff out hard edges, I will probably use it for that too - just glad I didn't pay full price for it.
ReplyDeleteI think the problem is that I like quite heavy, dramatic eye looks and I feel naked with such a barely there look. You have gorgeous big eyes and don't need a lot to emphasise them, so I can see this would work well for you.
I feel a bit like my eyes 'disappear' with such a gentle colour on them!

I'd say Know What Lies Are For comes off more of a beige/nude on me, not too much brown, guess we will all have slight variants once applied. I think it looks nice from your lip swatch, could you add a peach gloss to the centre to give it a lift if you feel its a bit too brown?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to see how you get on with your Sketches on Water tinted moisturiser x
I've heard good things about RBR, I'll have to look into the where/how to purchase in the new year :)
ReplyDeleteI quite like the look of that lipstick. I'll be interested to see what you make of it and what you pair it with, because it's the sort of colour I would wear! Can't wait to try Abysinian Catbird one day *sigh*
ReplyDelete@WBB: I had a harder time trying to get it to show up on the back of my hand as it’s close in colour. I think you could get use from it for buffing out if you like dramatic eyes but at the same time swapping/selling might be an option. If you like dramatic eyes I think you would get on really well with something like Volcano Fairy-wren.
ReplyDelete@Replica: I definitely think my natural lip colour alters how the colour looks on the lips. I like it but I think I might need to pair it with a different eye look to the one I used for Today’s post. I think a gloss would be a good idea too, I was going to try Ignite but a peach one might be good. :)
@Jadegrrl: I really like RBR. Zuneta sell it and ships worldwide. I’m not sure if there is another alternative for the Aussie girls though.
@dempss01: I’ve posted a FOTD with it applied. I think I need to experiment a bit with pairings. I applied the new purchases together but I think the lipstick would look better with eyeshadows that weren’t a similar shade. I think it was the full nude look (along with the black polo neck) that caused it to like a 90’s revival! I’ll be interested to know what you think. I really do hope you get opportunity to try Abysinnian Catbird. It’s such a stunning colour.

The lipstick swatches beautifully! And all three of those products would make a great makeup look! Ok, now I think I know what products I want next from RBR! ;)
