Eye Creams: Alva and OSKIA

I've confessed before about my serial offenses when it comes to not using eye creams. So when I was sent the Alva Sanddorn Eye Cream  I was keen right my wrongs. I've been using it for about four weeks now so I thought it was time to report on how I'm getting on.

Like the other products I've tried in the anti-ageing Sanddorn range, the cream is yellow in colour. It's unscented and the cream feels pleasant to apply. It's not too heavy or greasy. I really like the packaging too, it's certainly easier than using a pot and gives me good control over the amount I dispense. The lines around my eyes haven't disappeared but they are softened. It's hard to say whether this due to the active ingredients or whether it's just because the skin is plumped from actually being tended to for once! Either way, I'm happy using it and skin around my eyes definitely feels softer and more comfortable.

If you're looking for a anti-ageing range free from Parabens, Paraffin and Mineral oil, the Sanddorn products are definitely worth a look. You can read about the properties of the main ingredient, Organic Sea Buckthorn, here. I have a bottle of the skin oil to try and I look forward to it as I've heard great things. Alva Eye Cream is available directly from www.alvanaturalskincare.co.uk and costs £18.

Whilst on the subject of eye products, I have a new product lemming. I received a free sample of OSKIA Eye Wonder with an order from Zuneta. The sachet provides quite a generous amount as a little of this serum goes a long way. It feels wonderful on the skin and it's so hydrating. It has a strange smell though which is probably due to the MSM. It's forgivable as it feels nice and fortunately isn't close enough to my nose to worry me! It contains a variety of exciting active ingredients too including Swiss Apple Stem Cells, Milk Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid. Okay, so maybe it's just nerdy me that would find this interesting. It promises to brighten dark circles, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and reduce puffiness. What's a little more out of the ordinary are the peptides and anti-oxidants that promise to improve cell health. I can't vouch for whether or not it works having not done a proper trial but I know it definitely feels nice and improves the tone of the skin.

The only sticking point here is the price. It costs £58 a bottle, so it's certainly not cheap. However, as I say a little goes a long way so I can see that 15mls would last you a very long time. This one is definitely going on my wishlist. You can find out more about OSKIA from their website www.oskiaskincare.com.

Disclosure: The Alva Eye Cream was sent to me without cost for consideration for review.

  1. I have a sample of the Eye Wonder and it's lasted me a month (I think I still have a little bit left too). I don't think I've noticed much with dark circles, but I love the texture as it feels plump and goes well under makeup. I find it so hard to tell with eye creams but something about this has me thinking about getting the full-size.

  2. I'm not convinced that eye creams really work. I got conned into buying one in a big store in Glasgow (tis on my blog if you're interested! 'Hestia gets Daniel-ed' lol!) and despite religious use, my eyebags are still baggy!

    Surgery for me, methinks!

  3. Hi Meeta, it does last ages doesn't it. I haven't been using it daily but there's loads in there so I imagine the 15ml would last ages. I don't really know that it would live up to all of the claims but it definitely feels nice, doesn't it? I'm quite tempted. Though for goodness sake don't tell my husband. He'll think I've gone crazy!!

Lol Ali, I'm off to have a read of this. I need a giggle and I know before looking it'll be hilarious. I'm not entirely convinced much works, I'm usually quite cynical. I do think it's nice to use something to keep the skin hydrated so the lines don't look so much like someone has slept in my face! We should book ourselves in, I'll have botox shots in the craters between my brows and laser on my weird blob, and you get de-bagged!

  4. I personally own the oskia eye wonder and can vouch that it is a great product! I have hereditary bags under my eyes and I can honestly tell a difference each time I apply it, they seem tighter, more refined, and the skin feels really smooth- perfect for concealer application!

  5. Thank you Seth, I used it again this morning and I like it very much. I agree that it helps concealer sit better. It makes it much easier to hide my lines and dark circles ;)

  6. Hi Jane,
I have been meaning to look into OSKIA, I have been thinking about trying another eye cream ( I was looking at the new La Mer one but keep getting scared by the price) but this one sounds good, do you feel like your eye area looks noticably better? x

  7. Hi! It feels very nice. It has a slight tightening effect and leaves skin feeling silky. I find it helps concealer application like Seth mentioned. I think you can get sample of all the liquid products from Zuneta. It might be worth getting in touch if you're considering. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.
