A Week of Lips: Revlon Colorburst in Plum

I wore the lipstick a few days ago now, having had my little break for Christmas. After wearing a selection of more high end products, I wondered how this would fare. The Colorburst formula is quite luxurious feeling though and I wouldn't say I noticed a big difference in terms of texture or pigmentation. It stayed put whilst I demolished a mince pie so it gets a thumbs up for staying power. However, I can see from the lip swatches that it is less forgiving of winter lips.

It's a dark colour, certainly darker and more brown based than the other berry colours that I have. I made a bit of an error on my eyeshadow pairing with this (it accidentally turned in to smoky eye but more of that in another post) and ended up feeling like I'd gone goth. Unless this is for evening wear, I feel more confident with a bare minimum on the eye as the lips are dramatic enough.

Whilst I like this colour and the staying power and comfort are good, it isn't going to knock Nocturnal off the top spot. These are good lipsticks for the price but I prefer the less dramatic colours like Blush and Rosy Nude.

  4. Hi Charlie, you're right you did send me one of these. I had this already and passed on the one you sent to a friend of mine that loves it. I love the Blush colour that you sent me at the same time and that's a really good 'nude' on me.

Hi Karleigh, it is a great colour for brunettes. I felt much more comfortable keeping everything else simple. The children were chuckling at me with the more dramatic look. Charming!!

Hello Replica! I was really pleased with how the eyes turned out and it felt like a waste to take it off. I will definitely repeat with a different lipstick/gloss. I used the Lancome L'Wren palette, I'll have a post up soon x

  10. Yes, I agree about the formula, you wouldn't quite call it moisturising, however it's fairly alright for a drugstore brand.
LOVE the shade btw, and the rest of the makeup with it, it really does suit you, even though it's not your go-to look! But I love seeing ppl experimenting, wouldn't be fun doing the same thing repeatedly (that said, I should mix things up myself, lol)!
