Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Fatale

A little while ago I won a giveaway that the lovely Michelle at Lipstick Rules held. I was really excited as I was keen to try some Lise Watier products particularly as they're not available in the UK. I must say a huge thank you to Michelle as she went above and beyond in this case. The first package went missing so she was extremely kind and sent another one. When the parcel arrived, along with lots of Lise Watier goodies, I spied something rather thrilling. Michelle had added a lovely Chanel lip product sampler, from one lipstick junkie to another this was a real treat! I have never tried any Chanel lipsticks or glosses before so I couldn't wait to give them a try.

Today, I decided to give Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Fatale a try. It is a beautiful rich berry colour. I find the coverage to be similar to the Illamasqua Intense lipglosses, though the texture is very different. It feels very smooth and almost moisturising though I do detect a slightly sticky feel after a couple of hours of wear. It's also easy to apply.

I love this colour and really like how it feels on the lips. I find I can still feel the gloss on my lips even after the colour has faded. The only disappointing thing for me was that it feathered. I have had this issue before with pigmented glosses before and I think it a factor of the fine lines that I like to pretend aren't there!

Sorry it's blurry but I rather like the soft focus effect on my lines!

I'm very keen to try the other lip samples now, particularly Dragon and I defintiely feel a Chanel lip purchase coming on! Have you tried any of the Extrait de Gloss colours?

  1. Oh, that's lovely. The colour *really* works well for you IMO.

  2. This is really beautiful. And I love these shades on you. I prefer the mid reds on you to the darker shades, although both are nice! re the feathering, you could try one of the pencils that claim to stop feathering, I can't think of any off hand though!

  3. Beautiful color on you. I have the same problem with the Extrait de Gloss feathering on me. I use the Trish McEvoy flawless lip which I just swipe around my lip borders (+/- some liner) which helps a lot at keeping the feathering to none/minimal.

  4. Really beautiful shade on you! It lights up your entire face :-). Re pencils that prevent feathering that Charlie mentioned, don't quote me on this but I think Lipstick Queen makes one.

  5. Very nice! That colour really suits you. I like the eyes as well - is that the Enigma palette?
I haven't tried any Chanel glosses before, I seem to get swayed by their lippies more.

  6. @beautydiarist: Thanks Jan, I will look out for your post. My experience of Chanel is limited to a small number of makeup items but there’s always room for more MU lust!

@Grace: Thank you. I find the feedback really useful in honing my colour choices. I think this will definitely be a purchase, I’ll be interested to see how I get on with the other samples.

@Charlie: Thanks, I really like this and love how it feels on the lips. I really want to make this a full size purchase! I think I need one of those feathering pens as I’m sure it’s my lips and not the gloss.

@Bina: Thank you for the help. I’d be interested to try one of these anti-feathering products.

@Nina: I’ll have a look in to the LQ pen, I seem to think I have seen The Beauty Bite post about it. I really hope I haven’t just imagined that! I really like this colour and the texture makes it a real pleasure to wear.

@Meeta: The eyes are Ellis Faas E105 all over the mobile lid and then the Chanel Ombres d’Eau on the lash line. I really wanted to use the EF again but it was fiddly as ever!

    Thanks for your comments,
    Jane x

  8. That is a gorgeous red colour, I really love that!
I am not personally good with red glosses, they wash me out completely. You look fab :)

  10. Sorry Jane, I deleted my comment, this is about your lips and your review of the product, not about my posts. So I think that this looks really super on you, it is a colour that suits your darker hair and gives some balance. Very flattering. Jan x

  11. Thanks witchypurple, I loved wearing it and look forward to trying some of the others in the sampler.

Hi Cheeky! Thank you. I find it really interesting how some colours work for one and not for another. I still can’t pick out which are the right colours for a certain colouring, probably why I regularly make mistakes!! ;)

Hi Demps! Thanks you, I definitely feel a Chanel purchase coming on!

Hey Jan, please don’t feel like it’s inappropriate to make comments about something you’ve written or will write. These comments are for what springs in to your head when you read a post. There’s no right or wrong (well, unless you count troll comments I suppose!) and your responses are always considered and interesting. Please don’t feel like you have to censor yourself here :-)

  12. Thanks Jane, but I like to concentrate on what the person has posted about rather than what I am about to if that makes sense - don't give a flying fig what others do, but it is my weird set of standards for me! Jan xx

  18. @Jan: I guess someone has to have some standards around here ;)

@leinti nti: Thank you, I think it’s a lovely colour.

@Michelle: I loved the sample, it’s such a lovely way to give the colour and formula a try. Good for Chanel too as I will definitely be making a purchase after trying these glosses! Thank you so much again xx

@Replica: They’re a lovely formulation. Thanks for the colour suggestion. I’ll have a look at that, you’re usually very good at picking out colours for me :)

@Sarah: Thank you. You have such a pretty name!

@Skin Scrubs: Hush your noise! *goes slightly coy* ;) Thank you of course.

@Get Gawjus: Thank you, I was so pleased to try this as I really like both the colour and formula of the gloss.
