RBR Bejewelled Skylark and FOTD

I bought Bejewelled Skylark a little while ago and although it has made an appearance in a FOTD post, I thought it was time for it receive the full 'treatment'. I had admired this shade on others but it took me a while to take the plunge as I was concerned that it would be too warm for me.

Bejewelled Skylark is a beautiful, rich chocolate colour with copper shimmer. It's very pigmented and extremely smooth to apply. I loaded my brush once and covered from lashes to crease in one go. I find it very similar to Abyssinian Catbird in terms of the pigmentation and texture. Despite the creamy texture, I do not experience creasing and I do not notice any fading (my habit is to always prime with Too Faced Shadow Insurance).

  1. THAT's what I'm talking about! Gorgeous look Jane, just gorgeous...
Yup, you definitely don't need Chiffon Ringlet, go for another colour :-)

  2. I really like this look, it is very pretty. Before I looked at what you'd use I was thinking I really like the lipstick too - which is one I already have! Bejewelled Skylark is the next RBR item I would like to get, I was tempted to get it in the recent 20% off but I was trying to show some restraint (I still got a few things though;)

  13. Quick ask - any chance of a more detailed look at the YSL Rouge Volupte you are wearing in this pic?? Trawled your history and found Spicy Pink but not this one, which I am liking the look of! Before Sat if you please as am going shopping then. Chop chop.

  16. Thank you for all the really kind comments.

@Nina: Thank you so much. Really useful to know that Chiffon Ringlet would be a duplication.

@Meeta: I do like this lipstick and have been picking it out a lot recently. Bejewelled Skylark is lovely and well worth adding your collection. The texture is very similar to Abysinnian Catbird, Replica did a really beautiful eye look with the both of them which I was very smitten with.

@Beautydiarist: Thanks Jan. I thought I’d try it instead of the taupe after my comment yesterday and I think it’s definitely a better fit with the blusher.

@Charlie: Thank you. Yes, it’s quite similar to Centre Stage. I want to get Replica to do a swatch comparison as I know she has both eyeshadows.

@Cheeky Beauty: Thank you so much for keeping on trying to comment. I really appreciate it :D. I was really pleased with how it turned out.

@WelshBeautyBlog: I was surprised how much I liked it as I’m normally nervous with warmer colours. I’m really pleased you think it works ok.

  17. @dempss: Thank you, I’m very pleased with it as I have a couple of MAC browns which are not dissimilar but don’t seem to work as well.

@Olivia: Thank you. I was pleased with how it all worked together, so often I’ll get one element wrong and be disappointed.

@Ki: Thank you. I was much happier with this combination than the warm blush and the taupe eyeshadow.

@Debbie: Thank you *blushes*, I was pleased with how it turned out. Though of course you know I’m willing to show the bad (GOSH Darling) as well as the good!

@Stavroula: Thank you so much! X

@Skin Scrubs: Thank you. The colour is very rich looking and who can failed to be tempted by a good looking chocolate!

@Replica: It is such a lovely colour and I’m very pleased that I chanced this one. There have been a few comments on here and on twitter about whether or not Skylark is similar to Centre Stage. Do you fancy doing a swatch comparison?

    @Jennifer Leigh: Thank you!

  19. See? Definitely not too warm, us paler faces can rock it too, and you provide plenty of evidence!!! ;)
I had done a look with it pairing it with Abyssinian Catbird ages ago, I loved how it turned out, you should give it a try!

And speaking of RBR eyeshadows, Delicate Hummingbird just arrived a couple of days ago! You made me do it, hahaha! :D

  20. Hi Replica, thank you. There's no rush though, I'd thought it might be useful for those that had asked about the similarity. I imagine the finish is a bit different?

Hi Tina, I'm definitely going to try it with AC. I wore it yesterday with Prance and really like how that turned out too. It's such a rich colour and as you say, not too overpowering on a paler complexion.

I love Delicate Hummingbird, I really look forward to hearing how you find it. I'm just about to put another Zuneta order in but I'm dilly dallying over one of the bits to go for. Decisions, decisions!! ;)

    Jane x
