Like my Illamasqua blusher collection that I shared recently, my NARS blusher collection is very bijou but I thought it might be interesting to share. NARS blushers always seem to be very popular and a staple for many, especially the infamous NARS Orgasm. Back in my early days of blogging I discussed the fact that I don't 'get' the Orgasm appeal. I still don't own in but occasionally I get the urge to see how it would look on me. In my head, the peachy pink wouldn't work on me at all.
Anyway, I digress. The NARS blushers that I do own are Sin, Desire and Douceur, I thew in Laguna bronzer for completeness! Sin is plummy shade with gold shimmer, Desire is a deep vibrant matte pink and Douceur is a beige pink with a satin finish. I have compared Douceur to my other beige pink blushers previously.
I think Sin is probably the must unique colour of the three. Whilst I love plums and purples, I find this tricky to work with as a cheek colour. It does create some amazing cheek definition but it's really easy to go overboard with this shade. I haven't really found the perfect brush to apply it with yet. Although I struggle with the colour, the shimmer and texture of Sin is amazing.
Desire is a pretty colour and this blusher was actually gifted to me by a friend. It's quite an intense pink but with a light hand it creates a nice, sheer flush of colour. It can be layered for a more intense colour. I don't this pink is especially unique but I do like the fact that you can sheer wash of colour with this formula.
Douceur is a bit of a strange one to describe. In some lights it looks more pink and in other more brown. Swatched next to Desire and Sin, it almost looks tan. I like pinky-beige colours for adding subtle cheek definition but Douceur isn't my favourite. It's hard work to get the colour to show up. It's not very pigmented so unlike the other two where you need a light hand, you will need to layer Douceur then layer some more. It's very difficult to overcook this one.
My experience with NARS blusher is similar to my experience with their duos; there seems to be quite a lot of variation in the formula. There are both hits and misses. I think in these instances it is preferable to have a look at the colours in person before purchasing. For more NARS blusher swatches may I recommend that you pop over and take a look at Just Nice Things, where Helen is also sharing her blusher collection today.
Do you have any personal NARS favourites?
IVE BEEN DYING TO TRY NARS BLUSHES AND LIP PRODUCTS BUT I HAVENT HAD A CHANCE <3 THESE LOOK LOVELY , FOR ONCE SOMETHING DIFF. FROM LAGUNA AND ORGASM LOL
ReplyDeleteReally pretty!
ReplyDeleteSin looks really great! s for my favourites by NARS I'm among the Orgasm lovers! :D
ReplyDeleteGosh, all three are so pretty! I usually use cream/liquid blushes but think about getting more NARS blushes. I have only two so far (Orgasm and Mounia)
ReplyDeleteI picked up Madly recently and love it. Luster and Gina are my favourites from NARS. I need Douceur next!
ReplyDelete@All about reviews: Thanks. I guess I fail a bit by slipping Laguna in there!
ReplyDelete@Jamilla Camel: Thank you!
@goddessinspired: Sin is a really different colour to the usual pinks and peaches. It is amazingly pigmented too.
@Marina: How do you find their cream formula? I've often admired Loukoum from their cream range.
@Justine: I'd recommend having a play with Douceur if you can. It's very subtle and I have other pink beige blushers that I think work better. I'll have to search for some swatches of Madly, I'd quite like to get another.

I've had Douceur on my list for ages but still haven't taken the plunge. The more I look at your swatches though, the more I like it...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Jane :))

I can't believe how brown Douceur looks! It actually is my favorite. Maybe because I have so much redness in my skin. Loved this comparison.
ReplyDeleteI brought sin a while ago, I used it once and then hated it and havnt used it since :( I cant make it work for me, it just makes my cheeks look bruised :S I wish I could find a way to apply it properly becasue it is a gorgeous colour. I just cant get it to look right hmmmmm
