As I mentioned in my Friday ramble, despite not visiting the shops as planned, I did get a few new bits delivered this week. In a moment of MAC limited edition weakness I ordered Petticoat Mineralised Skin Finish and Hang Loose mineralised blush.
I'm sure you have seen millions of pictures of Petticoat and Hang Loose already but I thought it would be remiss of me not to include a shot! Petticoat is pictured above. It's a metallic pink and as you will see in the swatch at the end it's quite a warm, peachy pink. In fact it's a lot warmer than I was expecting. I gave Stereo Rose a miss as I thought the coral colour wouldn't suit me.
Hang Loose is pictured above. After years of avoiding pinks I seem to be rather drawn to them at the moment. The pink side of this blush is quite similar to Well Dressed which is no bad thing. I think I need a bit of practise at mixing the lilac and pink together, the level of shimmer certainly makes me nervous! Overall I'm pleased with these. I was extremely worried that after buying them on impulse I might regret it.
Here's another photo of the OPI Dulce de Leche that got in a swap. Please do excuse the big nail chip. Though it is proof absolute of my rubbish peeling nails. I'm so pleased with this colour, it's almost mannequin nail but is a touch more pink than beige. It looks lovely against a light tan. I shall take some swatch pictures when I reapply. It looks so much better than the Suzi says Feng Shui that I swapped it for!
I ordered this Guerlain Loose Kohl in Oriental Metal from Slapiton Beauty and Salon Products. I actually ordered it a couple of weeks ago and was starting to panic as I'd heard nothing. I'm pleased to report that I wasn't charged until the item was despatched, it would have been nice to know there was going to be a delay though. I did get a nice perfume sample which I think is always a nice touch. I have Get Lippie and Lady of the Lane to thank for this purchase. Every time I saw another mention of it I became more tempted and with good reason as it is a truly beautiful colour. I've not quite got the hang of applying it just yet but will keep practising. I would describe the colour as a smoky taupe with touches of silver. It adds lovely definition without being quite as harsh as black can be.
Here are the swatches. From left to right; Oriental metal, Lilac from Hang Loose, Pink from Hang Loose and Petticoat MSF. I think you can see from the swatch that the lilac side of Hang Loose is very frosty! It appears almost silver here. I think you can also see that Petticoat leans a little peach when compared to the pink of Hang Loose. I certainly see this when applied and as I mentioned already, it's a lot warmer than I had expected from other swatches and how it appears in the pan. I suppose this is related to the level of veining which does very from pan to pan.
I hope this was helpful and I hope I didn't bore you too much with more In The Groove swatches!

The Guerlain Loose Kohl looks great...but why did you have put a link to the site you got it from!
ReplyDeleteSo many nice Guerlain and OPI products and free delivery!
Still so tempted to buy Petticoat...however it is only a blusher at the end of the day and I am trying to save my pennies for moving house & getting married! So no blush for me...unless it's wine that is :)
Fee xx
I am on the fence about that blush! I just got Well Dressed and love it but do i Need this???
ReplyDeleteHi Fee! Ooops, yes that is a bit of an issue with the link. Too many nice things and doesn't like free delivery! Petticoat is nice but you're right to keep saving. No doubt it will come round again too!
ReplyDeleteHi Lipstick Rules. If you're on the fence and already have Well Dressed I would honestly say you'd be fine to let this one pass without a purchase. I'm not doing much for MAC sales today am I? Seriously though, if I thought it was unmissable I'd say but this one is pretty in the pan but definitely dupable with Well Dressed and a highlighter.

MAC have released a new collection? When did this happen? :) lol
ReplyDeleteI hated anything pink for years. Weirdly when I hit 30 I became totally obsessed with it! I got both Stereo Rose and Petticoat but I think Petticoat is far far nicer. Stereo Rose looks lovely...but not that lovely on me! I might pass it on to my sister as a post baby treat! :)

Hey Ms Wedgie! Yes, a new collection, with such impact that it can make a grown woman weep! I'm sure your sister would love you forever if you passed Stereo Rose on.
ReplyDeleteLipstick Rules, you know I might have to take back what I said about Hang Loose. I've worn it today and I've been secretly admiring myself every time I catch a glance in the mirror. It's a very pretty effect and I definitely like it on me more than Petticoat.

I am convinced! :-) Though really I don't 'need' another blush!
ReplyDeleteI keep telling myself I don't need more, but then temptation always strikes!
