Harper's Bazaar freebie - Leighton Denny Viva la Diva

Harper's Bazaar are giving away one of three Leighton Denny polishes with the July edition of the magazine (out now). The three polishes are Supermodel, a griege, Viva la Diva, a vibrant coral red and Do me a flavour, a juicy orange. Both Supermodel and Viva la Diva are from the regular line whereas the on-trend orange, Do me a flavour is part of Leighton Denny's Gelato Collection.

I was very tempted by the griege but as I already have several nail polishes in similar colours, as well as a growing collection of oranges, I thought Viva la Diva would be a good choice.

It's an interesting colour. It's red but with a coral hint gives it a lovely summer feel. I have it on my fingers now but I have a feeling it's going to make a great pedicure colour too. The formula was nice to apply and with no sign of streakiness. My only complaint was that the brush seemed to splay a little as I ended up blobbing nail varnish on my skin, something I rarely do. It was easy enough to clean up though. It also seemed to take quite a while to dry but I didn't apply a fast drying top coat which probably would have helped.

It's well worth taking advantage of the offer, even if you don't intend to read the magazine. The Leighton Denny polishes retail for £11 and Harper's Bazaar costs £4.20. I'm actually rather enjoying the magazine, even if I am a little puzzled by the strange choice of uber heavy eye makeup on Claudia Schiffer on the front cover....

  2. I agree with Liloo - lovely pics! Yes the 'Bardot' pics of Claudia are heavily made up for a summer issue x

  3. What a gorgeous summer shade; it really flatters your skin tone. I wonder how it compares to Lancome Sarong and Le Metier Ken's Korals. Maybe I will have to get this so I can compare, but it's getting to the point where I'll have to wear a different color on each nail if I ever want to make a dent in my ever-growing nail polish stash.

  4. I love this!! It was the only colour I really wanted but (sods law) the only colour that my local shop doesn't have! I shall have to go hunting further afield for this one! :)

  7. It always amazes me how UK magazines have the most fun products that come along with them. I'd have scooped the magazine up in a minute. The polish looks so pretty.

  8. You are making me have a serious case of the "give this to me now" syndrome. Also my daughters name is Leighton so I love that it has her name on it!

  9. Leighton Denny nail stuff is great - my mum bought me some from a shopping channel that shall remain nameless! I love it!

  10. I've been meaning to try Leighton Denny polish for a while so maybe this is my cue, I'd like to think I'd go for one of the brighter shades as that does look really pretty on you and yet whats the betting I go for the sedate griege! x

  11. @liloo: Thank you so much! I’m so pleased you like the pictures.

@Claire: Thank you Claire, I’m not naturally gifted with photography so I’m always thrilled if a picture turns out well. I’ve seen Claudia ‘Bardot-ed’ quite a few times and I just don’t think it’s suits her. Maybe you’re right that it’s just seasonally jarring.

@Zuzu’s Petals: LOL, yes, I need and extra face and more fingers to apply more ‘things’ too! I’d love to see how it compares to Kens Koral.

@Ms. Wedgie: I hope you managed to hunt one down. I’m very pleased with this colour, it’s actually even better colour wise than I had expected.

@Renay: I spotted Chanel Dragon on The Beauty Look Book and I’ve decided I need that too. Red is so chic and I think it looks just as good in summer as it does in winter.

Pritrica: I’m always drawn to the beige/griege shades. I’m glad I went for something different though as this is a great colour.

@Marcia: There always seems to be loads of great cosmetics freebies at this time of year. I got Glamour this week with a mini Benefit Posie tint. I just have to find time to read the magazines now!

@HDTM: Oh, you definitely need to get hold of one for the name alone! I intrigued to see how this colour compares to Kens Koral.

@Ali: I have the nail file and watched Leighton on that nameless channel for the first time the other day. I got a shock with his accent though, for some bizarre reason I thought he was American!

@Replica: Yes, you should definitely try and get your hands on one. The griege *is* very lovely so you’ll be forgive for sedate!
