When I initially picked up L'Oreal Endless Chocolate I thought it might be similar to Rouge Bunny Rouge Bejewelled Skylark. A quick side by side comparison quickly dispelled that idea. Bejewelled Skylark is much richer and warmer in tone. It makes Endless Chocolate appear almost Khaki in comparison. Equally, MAC Sable has a totally different undertone and pulls more pinky bronze. It was very interesting to see how different these browns are when compared.
These are all shimmery eyeshadows. I find both Bejewelled Skylark and Endless Chocolate relatively easy to wear. Bejewelled Skylark in particular is a beautiful colour. Sable is an eyeshadow that I very rarely reach for as I don't think it works with my skin tone. I'm tempted to try it again though to see if I was unfair in this judgement.
Which colour appeals to you most of these three colours? Do you have a favourite shimmery brown eyeshadow in your collection?
Thank you for the comparison, Jane! I have the Endless Chocolate (haven't used it much yet) and I thought it looked like a proper chocolate brown, now compared to the other colours it really has a green/grey cast to it. My favourite dark shimmery brown eyeshadow at the moment is the Urban Decay Darkhorse which is more of a cooler brown and I've had the Bejewelled Skylark on my wishlist for a very long time now (I think I need to do something about that :) x
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the Rouge Bunny Rouge one it looks so rich and gorgeous. Dying to try that brand but they're so expensive!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Jane, I had wondered if Bejewelled Skylark was similar but it does look darker then Endless Chocolate. I really like Sable, it's one of my favourite MAC eyeshadows.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that Endless Chocolate appeals to me the most, both in the pan and in your swatches. My favorite shimmering brown colors are ... so many! Off the top of my head:
ReplyDelete- Laura Mercier Topaz and Sable
- Chantecaille Sel and Granite
- Surah from the Becca Enigma palette
- Benefit Fawn Over Me
- Prescriptives Clove
- Stila Grace
- Jane Iredale Dawn
- Shu Uemura ME Brown 850
- MAC Satin Taupe
- Paul and Joe Tapestry 92 and Boulevard 23
- 3CC Cool Pebble and Stone
- Bobbi Brown Ash and Fawn
Jane, I wonder how Endless Chocolate compares to Edward Bess Dusk or Intimate, both of which have either mossy or khaki undertones.
@Klara: I was the same, I thought it was chocolate until I compared to the others. UD Darkhorse sounds very nice.
ReplyDelete@Carla: RBR is definitely a luxury but they make beautiful products. My mistakes have been very few too which I think says a lot about the brand. It’s an expensive addiction though as you can’t just stick at one thing!
@Meeta: You’re welcome. I found it very interesting to see just how different they really are. I’m definitely going to give Sable another chance.
@Zuzu’s Petals: I have a few of the ones on your list, LM Sable, Surah , Satin Taupe and the Shu and I like all of them. I really liked Sel and Granite when I swatched them too. I only have Dusk but I will have a look and see how it compares to Endless Chocolate for you.
Thanks for your comments. I’m really glad it was a useful comparions,
Jane x
This post makes me sad that RBR bejeweled skylark is backordered after hearing you sing it's praises and seeing how pretty it is! I do own MAC's Sable, so I'll have to console myself with that.
ReplyDeleteI haven't used Sable in ages - will have to pull it out and see how it looks. I always found it a little light. Love the RBR and Endless Chocolate though Jane - very flattering colours to wear :)
ReplyDelete@Jenn: It took me a long time to purchase it as I feared it would be too warm. It is lovely though and worth keeping your eye out for it coming back in.
ReplyDelete@dempss: Sable is definitely not as rich as the other two. I'm wearing Burning Black today and I really that too.
Like you, I don't seem to wear Sable that often (or...at all tbh)! The RBR one is a favourite though!
ReplyDeleteAnd glad you compared these to each other, this way I'm not feeling that guilty for adding the Loreal one to my... virtual basket, hehe!
