How does Skin Scrubs, Scrub Up?

This week it's Annabella of Skin Scrubs turn to take a seat in the confessional. A fan of all things scrubby, let's see if her beauty habits are as clean as her polished skin!

Confession is good for the soul, go ahead and unburden yourself! I promise I won’t judge.

Annabella Clarisonic
Where has Annabella's head gone? Do you think she has exfoliated it away?

Thanks Jane for this opportunity! Well here goes....Santa was kind enough to bring me a Clarisonic Pro way back in December but I have only used it about 10 times! I don't know what it is but I just can't get the hang of it. I've tried lots of different cleansers and changed the speeds but it doesn't seem to do anything for my face. Maybe I haven't given it a chance or maybe it's not what I thought it was going to be. I know it's not an exfoliating tool but after trawling through loads of You Tube reviews the one thing that really stuck in my head was a lot users said that they didn't need an exfoliator anymore or didn't use them as often. Obviously exfoliation is my Achilles' heel so just mentioning it drew me in. I suppose I will eventually use it on a regular basis but I keep forgetting I have it.

I was told that I was allowed two confessions so are you ready for this...I only have 4 pairs of shoes. Yes you heard it right just four. And they are all Converse trainers!

Annabella's Shoes

I'm probably one of the few women in the world that has no interest in shoes and thankfully my workplace is very casual so there's no need for me to buy any shoes that are more shall we say grown up. But what about going out I hear you cry! Most of the places I go don't require dressy footwear so it's never been a problem. I don't care that I'm 5'3 so I never heels, strappy sandals, mules, wedges nada! I will be wearing Indian style Khussa slippers for my wedding so even those will be flat.

There, don’t you feel better now?

Aunty Brown has a few more questions though; it’s true that I’m the nosy type.

When was the last time you visited the hairdresser?
Well normally I would go to the hairdresser every 8 weeks but I haven't been since November as I'm growing out my hair for my wedding(s) in September. My usual hairdresser is a bit scissor happy at the best of times so I've been avoiding her. My hair desperately needs a trim, the end are starting to get crunchy.

Which bit of beauty trickery couldn’t you live without?
Body scrub! If my skin isn't smooth as glass it puts me in a bad mood.

You’ve overslept and have 5 minutes to get out of the house. Are you going out with dirty hair or no makeup?
No makeup, I have to wash my hair every day without fail or else I have chip pan head.

Which trend still makes you cringe?
Well thankfully I never sported it but most American girls in the 80's hair sprayed their fringe into a into stiff force shield type thing on their heads. My cousin still sports this 'Mall Hair' look and she's 37. You can also still find it in some Southern US states.

Oh wait and one more, high-waisted trousers! This trend has made a comeback and it looks so stupid. I see girls from Nottingham Trent Uni walking around near my office all the time with these high-wasted pencil skirts, shorts, and jeans they look ridiculous but what do I know?

Thanks again Jane, I feel so much better!

Sadly, as a fellow Converse wearer, I can't make any comment in the shoe department. Your collection looks very appealing to me! Thanks for sharing Annabella. Hopefully you'll find a use for the Clarisonic soon.

If you have something you need to get off your chest and want to take a turn in the Friday Confessional you can email me at modestybrown@googlemail.com. It's open to everyone: if you have something to confess, I'm happy to hear it!

  5. Haha, I'm the same with shoes...except I only have 2 pairs I wear :S Agree on high waisted things too - though strangely I think it suits some people. It looks ridiculous on skinny women imo, my best mate was wearing high waisted shorts and they honestly looked like a denim nappy.
