Is this Christina Dirrty too?!

The lovely Christina from Lovesong for My Lipgloss had her arm lightly twisted on Twitter to volunteer for a confession. Of course I was thrilled when she gave in said yes. You're in for a treat as well I can assure you. Though you may never look at hair accessories in the same way again...

Confession is good for the soul, go ahead and unburden yourself! I promise I won’t judge.

For a Catholic school girl, I have quite a lot of sins! Let’s just get the worse one over with. I am a notorious pimple popper. I blame my grandma, who used to extract my pores using a bobby pin. I have been scolded by many an aesthetician, but I just can’t help myself.

Bobby Pins
Bobby Pins? As an extraction tool???!!

My second confession is also a skin one, I went for a while without wearing sunscreen on my face…this year. I am allergic to chemical sunscreen ingredients. They make my face feel like it’s on fire. Well, every physical sunscreen I had tried broke me out, so I finally got fed up and stopped wearing sunscreen. Rest assured, I tried again recently and have found one I love, yay!

I have a makeup confession as well, now that I think of it. I have owned makeup since I was 2 because I was a dancer. When I entered middle school, I decided it was time I wore it regularly. My mother did not agree. Soo, I snuck it to school with me to put on in the school bathroom before class and removed it with a wipe before I got home. It was pretty naughty. (The really sad thing about this whole situation is that I owned that powder I sneakily wore at school up until last year).

There, don’t you feel better now?

Aunty Brown has a few more questions though; it’s true that I’m the nosy type.

When was the last time you visited the hairdresser?

Gulp. Since Jenn of Hopelessly Devoted to Makeup wouldn’t allow me to get my hair cut before doing my confessional, I will have to admit that it has been since November. And to make it worse, I had bangs cut at that time, which have now grown to past my chin.

Nice fringe!

Which bit of beauty trickery couldn’t you live without?
I don’t do too much trickery because, since we’re being honest here, I’m really quite lazy. However, I won’t leave the house without at least concealer. I have quite a bit of acne scarring and some decent dark circles that I feel need covering.

You’ve overslept and have 5 minutes to get out of the house. Are you going out with dirty hair or no makeup?

Definitely dirty hair. In fact, I must admit that I have been guilty of leaving with dirty hair before. Its amazing what dry shampoo and a large headband can hide. Plus, I can’t leave without at least foundation because of scarring (something I’m working very hard at amending).

Which trend still makes you cringe?

Concealer lips. I like my lips! Why would I want to make them disappear. Another one? Beehive hair. Ew. It just makes me think of Any Winehouse. I certainly don’t want to look like her.

That really is a novel and quite grotesque use of a bobby pin! That saying something from another self confessed picker too!!! Thank you so much for sharing Christina. You must feel so much better after letting all of that go.

If you have something you need to get off your chest and want to take a turn in the Friday Confessional you can email me at modestybrown@googlemail.com. It's open to everyone: if you have something to confess, I'm happy to hear it!

  1. I love these confessionals so much and it's only 12:45am my time so I don't have to wait that long for them either. I'm also happy that Christina didn't cheat before doing this! LOL! Great confessional, I never saw the whole bobby pin thing coming!
