Illamasqua Bacterium Nail Varnish

Illamasqua Bacterium nail varnish was released with the Toxic Nature collection earlier this year. I think it was actually my favourite item from this particular collection. The colour is a joy to wear as it changes a lot according to the light. It's a pearlescent beige taupe, the colour change is a lot like that of a beetle shell. There are definite flashes of green in there. It actually reminds me a lot of the lighter colour from the NARS Dogon eyeshadow duo

This is two coats followed by BECCA top coat. Unfortunately, it must not have been completely dry before I went to bed as there are imprints which spoil the finish somewhat! The polish went on easily. I had to be careful to wipe the brush off before applying though, as if the brush was overloaded, I found the polish could go on a little streaky. I found the brush easy to use but I do wish the handle was a little bigger.

As ever, I cannot offer any comments on the wear. I believe Illamasqua polishes are generally pretty good in terms of wear time. I have nothing similar in my collection to compare this colour to but I spotted a very interesting comparisons of Bacterium to Chanel Quartz from the Illusions d'Ombre de Chanel on The Swatchaholic. They're not dupes but they're quite similar when applied. This is certainly a useful comparison for anyone pondering the Chanel Autumn collection.

  2. This is gorgeous! It reminds me of my fave Chanel polish, Trapeze which was LE a while back. I thought the other day that Quartz looked like a slightly darker version of it so I guess there's a similarity between the 3 of them.

Dreading those Chanel polishes being released, I want them all!

  10. If Illamasqua nail polishes ever make their way into Toronto I'll be a gonner... right now I'm safe because I'm too cheap to pay shipping and duty taxes :) love this shade and the name.
