Makeup Savvy Confesses All!

This week we have blogger and #bblogger Twitter chat chief, Makeup Savvy confessing her beauty sins. Fiona and I have different spending styles but we're still refined, classy ladies right?! *Cough, cough*

Confession is good for the soul, go ahead and unburden yourself! I promise I won’t judge.
Why I’m confessing this I do not know as I WILL regret it I am sure! Though I never know it may help to deal with my addiction head on... I highly doubt it. I am a serial spot and um, blackhead squeezer and a very closet one at that! Every night after washing my face I inspect my skin in my very well lit bathroom mirror and any imperfections I see I squeeze them away (half the time making it worse) with my fingers! Yes, I don’t even use any special type of tool or with a tissue – it would just interfere with the process. I think a bit of spot squeezing would be fine, but it’s the blackhead squeezing that makes me feel me most ashamed as it’s that what I turn to when I have a spot free face! I squeeze away at pretty invisible looking pores until my face is red and my boyfriend even questions why my face is so red when I get in to bed! Oh, the shame!

What's with the red nose Fee?

There, don’t you feel better now?.....................

When was the last time you visited the hairdresser?

Well the answer to this may as well be never! As I actually can’t remember the last time I visited one (maybe 3-4 years ago!) – which sounds really bad and it is bad, but I do have major trust issues with anyone holding a pair of hairdressing scissors other than myself  when it comes to even just a trim! Though my hair doesn’t look too bad (well I hope not, anyway) my hair is long and straight and I trim it myself every 3 weeks, as it grows so fast with some professional hairdressing scissors I bought off eBay!

Which bit of beauty trickery couldn’t you live without?

It has to be getting a monthly eyelash & eyebrow tint! Of course there is no difference when I’m wearing makeup but when I’m makeup free it means I can actually look human! Both my eyelashes and eyebrows are very fair to the point on being near invisible which makes me very sad – so the only remedy is to have them tinted!

I also really wish I could say I was a fake eyelash addict, but sadly I’ve yet to find a pair that don’t make me look like a blow-up doll!

[Aunty Brown is frantically crossing herself at this point. I looked for a picture of a blow-up doll but let's jusy say a beauty blog isn't the right place for that sort of filth!!]

You’ve overslept and have 5 minutes to get out of the house. You go out with dirty hair or no makeup?

Now this sounds like my worst nightmare as it takes me that long to just put on my clothes! Though I would definitely opt for doing something to my face.... most likely foundation, blush and mascara and stick the hair in a bun, of course adding a bit of talc into it to hide a bit of grease, ergh! Then I’d proceed to be one of those stared at people applying their makeup whilst on the train.

Which trend still makes you cringe?

I don’t think I’ve been on the earth long either to see any actual cringworthy trends, though I think the Creosote/Orangina tan is one for the last decade. As for general makeup crimes it has to be too much foundation and powder, to the point it looks thick and cakey, I can’t stand it! I also can’t stand blue eye shadow, there is no occasion where blue eye shadow could look good and it even annoys me to see makeup palettes containing blue eye shadow – it really needs to be banned for everyone’s safety!

  2. Thanks Jane for the opportunity to repent my beauty sins, I can't say I feel much better for it! But I'm sure it makes for an interesting read.... seeing as I ramble on about having a good skin skincare routine and all the time I'm there enlarging my pores and actually leaving scares!! Shocking!

    Thanks again :)

    Fee x

PS. Will make sure to link to it in an up coming ramble/skincare post :)

  3. Fab confessions - I understand the urge to pick spots all too well! I had been ultra opposed to blue eyeshadow since I was about 10, but I've softened to it recently - in small doses, mind! x

  5. I concur re. blue eyeshadow. As for the 5 minutes hair or makeup, I would just be late. I couldn't cope with not attending to both, vain I know! Ha!
