Hourglass Lash Lacquer and FOTD

I went along to the Hourglass counter in Liberty today to take a look at their new Lash Lacquer. I also spent quite a while taking swatches of various products which I will share in the next couple of days. Lash Lacquer is a bit like a top coat for lashes. You apply over mascara. Over their Film Noir mascara for preference but it does work over other mascaras too. As the name suggests the lacquer has a shiny wet finish and it maintains this glossy appearance even when dried. It's also completely flexible and won't make you lashes feel crispy.

Personally, I think Lash Lacquer really taps in to this seasons trend for spiky, spidery lashes. As the lacquer is painted on, it does have a tendency to pull lashes together. If you're after very natural, feathery looking lashes this isn't a product for you. But for a dramatic evening look or for moments when you just want something a 'bit more', I think this would be perfect.

I had this applied to my lashes but I also had the pleasure of watching Mel use the Lash Lacquer on a beautiful lady more blessed in the lashes department than myself. She was kind enough to agree to let me take a photograph and I think you will agree that it is a very striking result. I only wish I had noted down the combination of eyeshadow duos that Mel used in this look.

This is how it looks on my (more feeble) lashes.

  1. I like how black the lashes look, it really makes them stand-out which is something I have been eager for.

I bought this from Zuneta recently and I am trying it out with different mascaras at the moment and getting a feel for how best to use this as it is a bit unusual.

On an another note did you make a stop at Selfridges to see Mr Ford's offering? :)

  5. I don't think I'd look good with that. I prefer more definition.

  6. Your hair is looking great, Jane. I really love the darker shade on you. The lashes look great too. I wish I could use something like that but other than my good old Tarte Lash hugger- I just can't use much else. xx

  7. It looks a little odd close up to me, but then how many people would be that close to your eye anyway?!

From a distance your lashes look really WOW and so defined, black and glossy!

  8. @Meeta: It's definitely a bit different. I'll be interested to see what you find to be the best combination. Sadly, I didn't not get to see the Tom Ford collection. It was tipping it down as I came out of Illamasqua and I couldn't face fighting my way through the sea of brollies! Have you been for a look yet?

@Martha: Thank you! I was a bit concerned that I had gone too dark again but it seems to suit the changing season. It desperately needs a trim which I must face soon.

@Fountain of Youth: You'll have to take a look at this if you like that sort of look. I think with longer lashes, it looks stunning.

@Imo: Definitely go along for a look. Mel is lovely and I'm sure she'd let you see it in action.

@MarciaF: I don't think this will be for everyone. I hope the pictures are helpful in that respect as you can compare how it looks on very different sorts of lashes.

@makeup merriment: Thanks Jeanie! I am of course fascinated by the Lash hugger now. Sounds interesting! x

@Strawberry Blonde: Yes, it does look weird close up! I included the slightly weird photos so that people could see how it clumps the lashes together a bit. I don't think it's going to be a look for everyone but it's definitely dramatic. I don't suppose that many people do look at your lashes so close up either! lol

  9. Hi Jane
Oxford Street is a bit dreadful at the moment with all the building work and the rain makes it a hundred times worse:(
I did check out the counter Saturday, will do a post on the item I got.
