Edward Bess Compact Rouge in Island Rose

It was only a matter of time before I ordered another Compact Rouge. I love After Sunset, it's such a lovely texture and easy to blend, I was keen to try the formula in another shade.

Island Rose is a beautiful Raspberry Pink (I think maybe I'm having a little bit of a raspberry moment!). The texture of is light, creamy with no hint of stickiness. In fact it has a little bit of a gel like quality to it. I like to apply with my fingers and tend to pat it on to the apple of cheeks and blend out.

I'm sorry that this swatch picture is a touch blurry put I picked this shot as it was the best representation of the colour.

This is a picture from taken from my Rouge d'Armani post where I'm wearing Island Rose on my cheeks. Hopefully you can see it gives a nice colour to the cheeks. I think the Compact Rouges give a lovely subtle colour and by that I don't mean barely there, just that you can see a colour to the cheeks but it's never looks obviously made up. So much so that it seems I'm going to have to be a little careful with this colour. The other day I wore it without foundation and my husband came home and thought I looked a little hot and flustered! It's quite close to the colour I flush naturally and without neutralising some of my natural redness first it obviously looks like I've been out for a bit of a jog (an unlikely scenario I can assure you). I still think it's a beautiful colour and I'm pleased to have added this is what seems to be an ever growing collection of blushers!

  1. Looks gorgeous! I just bought NARS Multiple Orgasm because I loved the colours on the back of my hand.

Possibly not the most scientific way to choose a blusher, but it's pink and gold, lovely!

Must off and investigate this Edward Bess person...

  4. Hi Ali! The multiple orgasm sounds great. Did I really just say that? I’m feeling the urge to say I’d love a multiple orgasm now just for the hilarious google potential. Ah, you’ve got to love NARS for the weirdo google hits! Deep Throat anyone? Anyway, it sounds lovely. I have the illuminator version and the colour is very pretty. Yes, definitely investigate Edward Bess (he has beautiful hair). The products are pricey but the formula and colours are so flattering.

Hi Get Gawjus! It is a really pretty colour. It looks really nice on the lips too.

Hey Blusingloves. Thank you! I like how it looks with the darker lip colour too.

  7. Hi jv! Thanks for the lovely comment about my hair. I'm really enjoying having hair that looks it's been styled for a change! I'm very pleased with all the EB items that I have. I know they're not cheap but you can tell there's a lot of thought gone into the colours and formulations. Is there anything that you're particularly fancying? I want to try some of the eyeshadows next. Glad you like the new layout :)

Hi Vonnie! Thank so you much for the lovely comment! As I mentioned, this colour is very similar to my natural flush. It's nice to be able to place it where I want though, rather than where nature decided on ;).

  10. Blush looks gorgeous but I am not convinced on the lipstick a little too blue based for your coloring I'd say.

  11. Another perfect FOTD. I do however have to disagree with the commenter above (sorry anonymous!) I really think you pull off dark lip well. They just don't work for me, they make my lips disappear into nothing :(

  13. I am wondering what my first purchase from Mr Bess will be: this and everything else look just divine.

I love the lip colour, and it makes me realise how much I need to find my perfect berry shade. My pale skin and fair hair make me worry I'll just look like walking lips!!

  14. The Edward Bess products are definitely worth a splurge. I know what you mean about trying to pick something. Even when I faced with it all in the flesh, I found it difficult to know what to go with first. The eyeshadows are lovely, as are the lipsticks and blushers. I'd love to know what you decide on :)

Re: Picking a Berry shade, I think that the Lip Inks will be great for you if you're worried about the lips being such a statement. I hope the rest of the shades are available soon.

  15. That really suits you, looks like a step up from my love affair one. Do you find the compact a little difficult to open, or is that just me :)

  16. I find all compacts difficult to open! The Stila convertible is even worse. I need to the make up equivalent of a letter opener for this sort of thing. Maybe I should contact Bettaware or JML with the suggestion ;)

  17. I can't believe how subtle and pretty this looks because it's so pink in the pot! I guess it's all down to blending well :) the colour really suits you and I like the thought of a creamy "gel like" texture because I imagine it'd be a bit more dewy than a regular powder blush

P.S. what brand/shade lip stick are you wearing? It's looks superb!

  18. Hi All Made Up! Thank you. The blushers are really easy to blend out and I agree that it's quite different to the look you get with powder. The cream is really comfortable and not at all greasy feeling.

The lipstick I'm wearing is Rouge d'Armani 604 which is part of the Autumn collection.

  19. This looks gorgeous on you! It wouldn't suit my skintone so I am rather jealous. Nice lippie too xx

  20. Thanks Sarah! Going to the EB launch has spoiled me. Between EB and Rouge Bunny Rouge, not to mention the Guerlain palette, I can certainly kiss goodbye to any hopes of getting an iPhone, lol!

  21. I got Island Rose in the mail a few days ago and it's love! How amazing is the texture?!

    Looks so pretty on you

  22. Hi Jen! I'm so pleased to hear you love it too. You're right, the texture is amazing and sets it apart from all other cremes that I've tried. Whenever someone asks for EB recommendation, I always say the Compact Rouge.
