Neglected Makeup Challenge Pt II

I set myself a challenge last week to wear seven neglected items from my collection. On the whole it went well, I managed to wear everything in the week with the exception of the MAC pencil. I've got to be in the right mood to wear glittery blue eyeliner and I just didn't feel so inclined. Everything else I wore at least once and in some cases they had several outings. My favourites were definitely the Armani E2K, Guerlain loose kohl and Suqqu Lip Gloss. I'm hoping that reminding myself how much I liked these items will prevent me from neglecting them as much in the future.

I really enjoyed wearing the Dior Gris Montaigne nail polish too and thought I'd share a couple of pictures of how it looked. I have lots of gruple colours and mushroom-y taupes but I think this is the only grey I own that leans so blue. In certain lights this took on an almost navy hue.

In view of my success last week in re-discovering old favourites, I pulled out another seven items of makeup to wear this week. In this weeks batch of items we have;

Guerlain Rue de Rivoli palette
Bobbi Brown Caviar Ink gel eyeliner
Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Fume
Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Ming
Shu Uemura ME brown 850
MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Truth & Light
Sue Devitt Gel to Powder blush in Malay Reef

(the links above are to older posts where I have featured these items previously)

I think most of these items should work quite well together so hopefully I won't have a problem fitting them all in during the week. There's also nothing especially wild. Well, as long as you take no notice of the fuchsia eyeshadow of course! Which neglected item of your collection will you be pulling out this week?

  1. These "neglected makeup" posts care such a good idea. I have tons of stuff that hardly look at, and i often but new stuff only to realise it's pretty much a dupe for something i already have!

And i do love a good grey polish, this Dior one is on my list of "classic" greys.

  2. Great items! I also have Rue de Rivoli & you have inspired me to look for it and start using it. I am so bad about buying things and then putting them away, never to see the light of day again!

  3. I've been playing around with the foundations I own while I give my skin a break from Studio Fluid Fix. I can't say i've been wearing enough makeup long enough to neglect anything yet but I definitely feel like some items are favorites and others are background.

  4. I love rue de rivoli. the brown is a great subtle crease and the grey purple is nice for work although a bit different.

  7. These posts are fantastic, I can't wait to see the outcome of your next challenge and I really hope you can find some time to create many more of these!!!
I think you've inspired me to do a post similar to this... I have so many products lying around which could be sifted through, put to good use or donated!

    Thanks :o) - Katie xx

  8. Hi!

I'm not sure but I think this may be my first comment on your blog. Either way, I've been a reader for yonks, so I thought I'd come out of the woodwork!

Just wanted to say the Dior looks fab and I LOVE the look of the Sue Devitt blush. Looks very pretty indeed.

  9. @Jo: Thanks Jo, I'm glad you enjoy them. I've quite enjoyed rediscovering various bits and pieces through doing these posts.

@Makeup Magpie: I think it's hard to remember to pull out the older items when you're busy trying all the latest things. I can feel relentless!

@Eden-Avalon: Yes, I think you develop favourites very quickly. I really ought to do a post about the things I use all the time too!

@baby in a corner: I enjoyed using it a lot, it has some very nice colours in it as you say.

@Claire: I really ought to try the fuchsia again. I get very nervous that it will accentuate my bloodshot eyes!!

@Raquel: I agree, I don't like to be wasteful and as you say, these things are too nice to be forgotten. Thanks for your comment Raquel.

@kt_gray_3: I'm so pleased you find it inspiring. It's definitely good to have a sort through now and again.

@Nazia: Thank you so much for commenting Nazia! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked using the blush as it's not the sort of colour I usually wear.

Thanks for all of your comments,
    Jane x
