EOTD with Illamasqua Delirium

I used the Illamasqua Delirium cream pigment in an eye look yesterday and despite my usual habit of showing you swatches before looks with the colours in use, I'm going to do things in reverse order.

Delirium is described as a rosy taupe. I think that's fairly accurate, as you can probably tell from the pan it's quite a murky colour. When sheered out it's not dissimilar to the colour of the natural shadows on my face, so it's good for adding definition. I've used it here as an eyeshadow base but I have seen others use it to good effect as a blusher.

Breakdown
MAC Painterly paint pot
Delirium applied with fingers from lash line to just above the crease
Spectacle eyeshadow from the Le Metier Le Cirque Kaleidescope, applied over Delirium
MAC Brule used from above crease to brow (to blend out any hard edges)
Highlighter end of RBR Eyes Wide Open pencil to highlight brow bone
Brightener end of RBR Eyes Wide Open used on lower waterline
RBR Lacquer liner
No.7 Exquisite Curl mascara

I somehow managed get a very lopsided application, hence the lack of face on pictures. Personally I prefer the heavier application on the right hand side of the last two pictures. Despite using an eyeshadow over the cream, I still experienced some creasing after about 5 hours wear. Next time I will use Too Faced Shadow Insurance instead of Painterly to see if this minimises creasing further.

The Toxic Nature collection was released on the Illamasqua website today, have you ordered anything already? I still have Glister and Bacterium at the top of my list.

Disclosure: Delirium cream pigment was one of the items in my event bag. The No.7 Exquisite Curl mascara was also a PR sample.

  7. Love the colour on you! I hope you can sort out the creasing so that you can get lots of wear out of this one. It has lots of potential!

  8. Looks really fab, although being a fussy mare would really like a pic of just delirium on its own before you added the colour on top as I would like to know if its the delirium thats doing the work or you other shadow! The colour is lovely and completely agree re the stronger application on the right being the nicest, bottom 2 pics are fab and it does look like a very wearable colour.

  9. I love the way this looks, definitely the easiest to wear of the bunch!!!
However I was more drawn to the dark purple and the minty one (god knows why, its not like I can wear them on a daily basis)!!!
    Need to shop this collection!!!

  10. @Old Cow: Thank you. I’m generally a cream fan, it’s so much more forgiving on my sleep deprived skin!

@Zoe: Thank you, glad you like it.

@Replica: Thanks for the BECCA link, I hadn’t spotted it before. I’m not sure what I think, it looks very pretty but corals aren’t very me. Maybe I’ll change my tune as I see more details!

@Meeta: You’re sensible to wait to see it in person. I can’t decide whether to wait until it comes out on ASOS or Debenhams website.

@Nina: Thank you Nina. I enjoyed the effect of putting the taupe over the cream as it pulled it more mauve. The sparkly flesh toned eyeliner is definitely one of my top picks from the collection.

@nicoletta: I look forward to seeing what you thought of the items you got. I think it’s a really different selection of colours for Illamasqua but I love it.

@dempss01: I suspect there will always be a certain amount of creasing with these pigments used on the eye. It’s not like the line and illuminate pencil though! I like the colour the cream and taupe create, pulling it more mauve.

@Debbie: You know, I tweeted that I was worried about posting it this way round! I will post the swatches soon. Would it help break it down into pictures at each stage of application? The cream and the eyeshadow do combine to make a new colour so to speak and I rather like the effect.

@Tina: Mould, the grape colour is lovely. I was really drawn to it but I suspect I wouldn’t have the skill to apply it without making it look like a bruise! I’ll be interested to see how you wear the mint colour if you go for it :)

Thanks for all of your comments,
    Jane x

  11. Got to have a play with Delirium today, it is absolutely gorgeous, much nicer than I had anticipated and I could def use it on cheeks, lips and eyes so am sorely tempted! Having seen it in person I think your eye in 1st and 3rd pic shows the most delirium like tones - in the others it looks, dare I say, more pinky taupe! lmao!! x
