GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Funky Violet

My children have been generous with their germs again so this post comes to you by the power of Lemsip and a short nap. I'm sharing this information with you in advance because I imagine this post could be short and sweet.

I was first introduced to the GOSH Velvet Touch Waterproof eyeliners by London Makeup Girl's review of Truly Brown. I bought it and it's become one of my favourite eyeliners. It's a great colour, creamy to apply but once it sets it doesn't move around. It's a really great alternative to black and lasts all day. When I went back to buy another one as part of my recent giveaway they had a 3 for 2 offer on and I thought it would be a good opportunity to try the eyeliner in another colour.

I chose Funky Violet as although I love the colour of my RBR Delilah eyeliner it's quite a hard pencil and can drag my lid as I apply. I had hoped that Funky Violet would be as easy to apply as Truly Brown but unfortunately it isn't. It's not as hard as Delilah but it's definitely not as creamy as I'd hoped. It is a great colour so I can overlook it's faults, especially as it costs a mere £4.99. Like Truly Brown it lasts all day and doesn't smudge.

You can buy GOSH cosmetics from Superdrug. I notice from their website that the 3 for 2 offer is still on, for a change they seem to have quite a lot of the colours available in their online store too.

  1. I always walk past this brand and wonder if it's any good. The colour's fab though but how does it work when smudged? Is there a 'play time' before it sets Jane? As a MUA I'm curious as to whether it would make a good base for shadows to work on top off, if you know what i mean? Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I do love purples! X

  2. With the brown there's definitely 'play time' before it sets and I have smudged it out successfully before when I've not had time for eyeshadow. That shade would certainly make a good base. I haven't tried smudging this one out but I will give it a go for you and report back. They do have some great colours, I really liked the navy blue and emerald that they had.

Thanks for the interesting comment Mr. Soh! xx

  3. ...and thanks to your lovely giveaway I got to try the brown as well. I completely agree, it's a great pencil! It's given me an appetite for more of those and this purple is a fab colour.
I hope you feel better soon Jane, take good care of yourself :-)))

  4. This is such a gorgeous color. Do you have any tips for getting such a fine line? I think my lashline is just uneven or something... I can never get pencil liner to look right!

  6. @Nina: Oh, I’m really glad you like it Nina. I’m really grateful to Grace for posting about them as I would have missed them otherwise. I hope the studying is going well? Not long to go now.

@MLBB: I think with pencils it really depends on the texture. With some I have it’s impossible to get a fine line as they’re either too creamy or too hard and drag. Keeping the pencil really sharp, gentle pulling the lid ‘out’ and keeping it as close to the lashline as possible is the way that I tend to do it. I seem to have got better over the years too.

@Old Cow: Thank you. That really means a lot to me as I think your photos are amazing!!

I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend ladies,
    Jane xx
