Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes E105

I was in two minds about posting these pictures. This is the make up I had on when I did the What's in My Bag video and up close you can see the problems I had with the application. I thought it might be of interest though to see how I got on with the Creamy Eyes applicator though.

I really love the colour E105. It's a bit darker on the eyes than I was expecting but it actually reminds me a lot of the Helene Bonham Carter/Marla Singer eye look that Pixiwoo did which I loved. I did have problems controlling the application though and ended up bringing the shadow too far in towards my nose. I have close set eyes and I like to keep this area clean normally. As other bloggers have mentioned it's tricky to stop the cream product splodging out in a blob. I tried to use my fingers to apply it but ended up with too much on my lid and fingers so rather than blending I was just taking the shadow higher and higher! I think in future I'll have to wipe off some of the initial product from the brush and use that to apply. If anyone has any handy tips please feel free to share.

Hopefully I'll be able to post another more successful face in the future but I hope it was useful to see the colour in action.

  1. I own the green milky eyes shadow (sorry, but being away from my stash, I just cannot remember the number) that has a sponge tip applicator, not a brush.
What I found works best for me, is to use the slanted sponge tip as a mini palette, let the colour "pool" and then collect and apply it with a flat, stiff-ish domed brush. In this way I can control the amount I'm using and achieve a more precise application (and, trust me, it's not as fussy as it sounds!).
I don't see why that wouldn't work with the brush of the creamy eyes...
    Have a great Sunday!

  2. Hi Nina, that sounds like a good idea. I popping it on the back of my hand then using my fingers but that just ended up with too much everywhere. I'm tempted to put the 'blob' into a small container and work from that. I do have a couple of brushes that are appropriate for application too. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll let you know how I get on.
I hope you've had a lovely day in warm Athens! x

Hi BBB, the colour is lovely isn't it. It's very rich looking.

Hi Helen, thank you very much for the award :).

  3. I like the colour, it works for you.
About it going everywhere during application...I'd either squeeze a blob unto back of hand and use a firm 'ish' bristle brush to apply or squeeze into a small tub....Muji do great ones as well as ScreenFace and PAM. x

  4. Hi BQ, I think getting a container would be a good idea. I would like to get some of these anyway for travel and melted down lipsticks. Thank you for the ideas of where to get them, much appreciated x

  5. Hi - I pretty much do what Nina does - use a small flat brush to pick colour up from the applicator and then apply. The first time I tried to apply E104 (dark brown) directly from the applicator I looked like Siouxsie Sioux.

    Lovely colour on you though.

  6. Thank you Grace. I must have another go with it and use a brush. I really love the colour. I've been chuckling to myself about your Siouxsie Sioux incident! x
