Rose Lanolips

I thought today was the ideal day to show you my Lanolips lip ointment in Rose, as the Lanolips range is now available online from Boots. I'm not 100% sure whether they are in store yet but I will update you when I find out (* see below for update).

I ordered Rose via the waiting list on Victoria Health. It was London Make Up Girl that first sparked my interest in the range and looking at her swatches I thought I would go for Rose. Although the darker colours appealed I thought this would work well under lipsticks as well as wearing in it's own. I'm pleased to say it works well both ways.

The balm itself is rich and moisturising. It has a nicer texture than the, ahem, nipple cream that I have previously used as a lip treatment. It's formulated with ultra pure grade (medical grade) lanolin and I can feel the difference. Of course, it's isn't Lansinoh's fault as I don't think they were recommending that I put it on my lips! Lanolin does make a great lip treatment though and is very good for plumping and moisturising dry lips.

Rose doesn't add colour to my lips but there's a hint of something there and I like the glossy finish. As I mentioned I do use it under lipsticks to stop them drying out my lips. I tend to blot over the balm with my fingers first though so that it's only a light layer.

I'm really pleased I bought this. It's perfect as we're coming in to the colder months and it's great for those days when I only have time for minimal make up. In this full face shot I'm just wearing Le Metier Champagne eye pencil on my lids, a bit of liner, mascara and concealer. Perfectly acceptable face for the school run, we'll say nothing of the hair. Now these are available from Boots I think I will invest in the original 101 ointment.

The 101 Ointment cost £10.99 and the Ointments with colour cost £7.99. They are available from Boots.com and Victoria Health. * They will be available in Boots stores from January.

  3. I really want to try these too. Shame I've got a load of lip balms to get through before I can justify a little spend on these! x

  5. I hope you will forgive me for answering you all at once regarding taste/smell. It has aroma on the list on ingredients. There is a very faint hint if a scent but I what I can smell is probably the shea butter. If you lick it whilst on your lips (which I did for you) it doesn't taste nice. However, I don't taste anything when it's on. The consistency means it's not sliding all over the place and in to your mouth. So, no heavy or weird scent and it only tastes funny if you try and eat it ;)

@TheBristolBeautyBlog: You'll have to give it a try when you've got rid of some of the backlog!

  6. I wanted one of these too after reading london makeup girl's post. I do like the look of that, I'll see if I can pick one up in Boots (whilst trying to avoid the makeup counters) x

  7. It's really nice and moisturising. It looks like they're awaiting stock of Rose. I wonder if that will be the same in store? I'd like to have a look at the other colours. There was another darker, more dusky pink that really appealed too. Good luck avoiding the lure of the counters ;)
