Chocolate Keratin Treatment Update

I thought it would be useful to update you on the Chocolate Keratin Treatment I had back at the end of August.

Freshly 'Brazilian'-ed hair

It's been almost 3 months since I had it done and I would say it has pretty much worn off now. My hair is still reasonably soft, apart from the very ends, but I think the softness can be attributed to my shampoo and conditioner now rather than the treatment. My hair is back to it's usual unruly state but still doesn't appear as frizzy apart from where the new, post baby growth has started.

The looking-fabulous-from-the-minute-I-woke-up lasted about a month, maybe a bit less. It lay nicely when washed and left to dry for about 2 months. From then on, it still fell nicely only when it was blow dried. It was still possible just to rough dry though. Within the last couple of weeks it has been falling back into it's usual untidy ways.

It hasn't lasted quite as long as I had hoped and certainly not long enough for me to consider it as a regular treatment. It's worth pointing out though that my hair only has some bend in it rather than a wave or curl. I liked it on my hair as it flattened the cuticle and made it quicker to style. If I had more of a wave in my hair I think I would be more likely to make it a regular feature. For a holiday or special occasion though, I could see myself having it done again.

Wahanda and My City Deal regularly provide offers on Brazilian Blow Dries and I think this is a good way to make it more affordable. I would still recommend the treatment, especially if your hair is wavy or frizzy and unmanageable but for someone like myself with mostly straight hair I would view it as more of a treat.

  1. I have to work really hard to make my hair look decent these days. This is a treatment I might consider - interesting to hear your feedback on it.

  2. In terms of making my hair decent, this definitely worked. I freely admit to spending minimal time on my hair so I really liked the fact that it may hair looked soft and shiny with very little effort. I think it's worth a go to see how it works for you, especially if you can find a good offer.

  3. I'm really looking forward to getting mine done a week on Monday. I have really thick and wavy hair, so it literally takes me ages to get it looking half-way decent. Even if it only takes half the time to style, I'm really looking forward to it! xx

  4. I'm sure you'll love it. I really think that for hair that's tricky to manage this is a fantastic treatment. I can't wait to hear how you get on xx

  5. I had the chocolate keratin done last week and my hair is not as smooth as it was with prior treatments and done elsewhere. I went to Salon Gio in Brooklyn for this and am not pleased at all. Highly priced and I think the administrator of this treatment just did a lousy job. Will never get it done again, at least not there.

  6. I just had the Chocolate Keratin Treatment. I know you can not wash your hair with shampoo everyday, but is it ok to just rinse it with water during your daily shower? I go to the gym on a regular basis and can not imagine going to work with out at least rinsing my hair. But I wouldn't want the treatment to fade away sooner than I expect. I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!

  7. Hi Monica. I've never heard that you can't wash your everyday. You can't wash your hair for a few days after the treatment to let the treatment 'set' but after that you can wash it as normal. You need to use a sulfate free shampoo though otherwise it will strip the treatment. Did the salon tell you not to wash daily?
